The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About ZIP Extractor
Open a ZIP file from a link directly in ZIP Extractor.
Right-click a link to a ZIP file and choose "Open with ZIP Extractor", or click the extension's toolbar icon and paste a link. The extension downloads the file and opens it in the ZIP Extractor web app at zipextractor.app in a new tab, where you can browse the files, preview images, documents and text, and extract what you need to your computer or to Google Drive. You do not need to save the archive to your Downloads folder first and pick it from your computer.
Works with the links you actually use
Links that redirect to another site, such as GitHub release downloads. Links that need the sign-in you already have in Chrome. Google Drive, Dropbox and GitHub share links, which the extension turns into download links. Any file type: an archive opens in ZIP Extractor, and any other file is put into a new ZIP file.
How site access works
The first time you choose the menu command, Chrome asks whether the extension may access all websites. Download links often send the download on to another site, so access to the link's own site is not enough. The extension uses this access only to download the link you chose, when you choose it. If you decline, the extension asks for one site at a time from then on. Sites that share their files with any web page (for example raw.githubusercontent.com, cdn.jsdelivr.net, unpkg.com and GitHub Pages) open without a prompt.
Private by design
The extension runs entirely on your device. When you open a link from a site you are signed in to, Chrome attaches your existing sign-in for that site to the download request; the extension never reads, stores or sends your cookies. The file is held by the browser only until ZIP Extractor confirms it has received it, and the extension never uploads it to a server. The extension reads no page content, injects no scripts into web pages, and collects no data.
If a download fails
ZIP Extractor opens and tells you, with a Download file button that opens the link in a new tab, so you can download the file yourself and drop it on ZIP Extractor.
Limits
Files up to 2 GB from HTTPS links. Links to your computer, your local network or a port number are not supported. Pages that start a download with a script (some file-sharing sites) send the web page instead of the file: download from those in a tab, then drop the file on ZIP Extractor.
