The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About YouTube Watched Hider
Hide videos you have already watched on YouTube. Watched videos disappear from your Home feed, search results, related videos and Subscriptions, so you only see videos that are new to you.
■ How it works
1. Install the extension and keep using YouTube as usual.
2. Videos you watch are recorded in your browser.
3. From then on, those videos are hidden from your feeds automatically.
■ Hide watched videos — your way
- Choose what counts as "watched": any threshold from 1% to 100% (default: 95%)
- Turn hiding on or off separately for Home, Subscriptions, channel pages, playlist pages, Search results and Related videos (for example, keep watched videos visible in search). Watch history keeps being recorded even where hiding is off.
- Or dim watched videos instead of hiding them (hover to see them at full opacity)
- Hide playlist and mix cards in the places you choose, such as Home, Search results and Related videos
- Separate toggles for Shorts and movies
- Detects views both from YouTube's progress bar and from /watch page visits
■ Also included (optional)
You do not need these to hide watched videos, but they are there if you want them:
- Clean up Watch Later: see which videos in Watch Later you have already watched, and remove them one by one or in bulk (the videos themselves are not affected)
- Watch history viewer: browse, search and sort your history in a calendar view; delete entries with Undo; back up and restore as JSON, including a daily automatic backup to your Downloads folder
- Official-first search filter (beta): makes official and "- Topic" channel videos easier to find in search results. You can turn its panel off in the settings if you don't use it
- Music taste analysis: artist and channel rankings and watch time, based on your own history
- Play only what you haven't watched: on a playlist page, add just the unwatched videos to the Queue or Watch Later
- Right-click a video link to add it to the Queue or Watch Later
Available in English and Japanese; follows Chrome's display language. Release notes are in Japanese only.
■ Privacy
- All watch history and settings are stored only in your browser (chrome.storage.local / IndexedDB)
- No data is sent to the developer's servers. No tracking, no analytics
- External requests go only to official YouTube endpoints (oembed / watch pages / playlist / youtubei browse) and to the MusicBrainz music database (https://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/)
- MusicBrainz is queried only when you run "Fix Credits" or the search filter's credit check. Only search strings built from artist names and song titles are sent; no cookies or YouTube credentials are sent, and no developer server is involved
- The offscreen document is used only for IndexedDB access and for creating Blob URLs for JSON backups
- When syncing Liked videos, YouTube may attach its own authentication headers as same-origin requests on the YouTube tab, but nothing is sent to or stored by the developer or any third party
- Uninstalling the extension deletes all data
