About YouTube to Notion: Watch History Sync

Turn YouTube into a searchable library inside Notion — and see how much time you are actually spending there. Every video you really watch is written to a Notion database automatically: title, channel, URL, watch date, duration and how far you got. Then sort it, filter it, roll it up, or link it from any other page in your workspace. ──────────────────────────── ONLY THE VIDEOS YOU REALLY WATCHED ──────────────────────────── Logging is based on seconds actually played, not on opening a page. • Videos you open and close are not logged • Ad playback and paused time never count • The threshold is adjustable (10 seconds by default) NO DUPLICATE ROWS Watch something a second time and no new row appears. The watch count goes up and the last-watched date is refreshed, so "how many times" and "when last" stay in one place. YOUR PROGRESS IS KEPT Playback position is stored as a percentage, and only the maximum is written — rewatching never rolls the number backwards. Videos played to the end are pinned at 100%. YOUR WATCH TIME, RIGHT ON YOUTUBE A small counter sits next to the YouTube logo with your totals for today, the last 7 days and the last 30 days. Choose how it reads: 1h 23m, 1h 23m 45s, 1:23:45, or 83m. It counts only while a video is really playing, so ads and pauses are excluded, and it keeps counting correctly in a background tab. The totals stay on your computer — they are never sent to Notion — and you can reset or hide them whenever you want. The popup breaks it down further: the last 7 days as a chart, and which channels took the most time. Set a daily reminder in minutes and the figure turns red once you pass it — nothing is blocked or hidden. Using more than one computer? Turn on combining and each of them writes its daily total to a Notion database of its own, so every device shows the same combined figure. Only the daily numbers travel — never which videos you watched — and it is off until you switch it on. A YEAR IN ONE IMAGE Pick a period, press a button, and get a single image with your total watch time, number of videos, channels, top channel, most rewatched video and how often you finish what you start. It is built on your computer and never uploaded anywhere. Hide channel names and video titles before you share it, if you would rather post only the numbers. YOU HAVE SEEN THIS ONE BEFORE Thumbnails on the home page, in search results, in related videos and on channel pages carry a small "Watched 3d ago" tag, and each video page shows when you last watched it, just under the title. The check runs entirely on your computer — nothing is asked of Notion to show it. BRING YOUR PAST HISTORY WITH YOU Your database does not have to start empty. Export your history from Google Takeout and drop watch-history.json on the settings page — everything you watched before you installed this goes into Notion, with watch counts and dates. Ads, YouTube Music and searches are left out. It keeps running after you close the page. A "BY CHANNEL" VIEW IN ONE CLICK Add a view that groups your whole library by channel, without touching the table view you already use. SHORTS AND LIVE STREAMS Shorts are logged the same way, and one full loop counts as 100% — switch them off in settings if you prefer. For live streams, duration is how long the broadcast has run and progress is the share of it you actually watched. NOTHING GETS LOST If a write fails — you are offline, Notion is down, a column was renamed — the record is queued and retried automatically. Closing the tab or restarting the browser does not lose it. If a column really is missing, the extension names it and offers to recreate it for you. PAUSE IT, OR SKIP A CHANNEL Pause logging for 30 minutes, an hour, or the rest of the day. Exclude any channel you would rather not keep a record of. THUMBNAILS BECOME COVER IMAGES Open the Notion page and you can see at a glance which video it is. ──────────────────────────── GETTING STARTED ──────────────────────────── 1. Press "Connect to Notion" on the settings page 2. Choose the page you want to log into and approve it 3. Pick the target database and save Missing properties can be created with one button. Advanced users can paste an internal integration token instead. ──────────────────────────── WHAT GETS STORED IN NOTION ──────────────────────────── • Title • URL • Channel • Video ID (used to detect duplicates) • Watched At (last time you watched it) • Duration in seconds • Progress (%) • Watch Count • Type — Video, Shorts or Live Duration is stored in seconds so it can be summed, filtered and sorted. If you want to read it as "1h 23m 45s", add one formula property in Notion — the settings page has the expression ready to copy. ──────────────────────────── PRIVACY ──────────────────────────── • Your watch data goes straight from your browser to your own Notion. Nowhere else. • The developer cannot see, collect or store any of it • No analytics, no tracking, no ads • Watch time totals stay on your device. Only if you turn on combining across devices are the daily totals sent to your own Notion — never which videos you watched, and never to the developer • Settings and tokens stay on this device and are not synced through Chrome • Only while connecting does one request pass through the developer's server, purely to exchange the authorization code for a token. It carries no watch data and nothing is stored. ──────────────────────────── GOOD TO KNOW ──────────────────────────── • The watch time counter appears on the desktop layout of youtube.com. It is not shown on m.youtube.com or in a very narrow window. • Watch time is counted per device. Turn on combining in the settings if you want your computers added up. • Reading a video's exact title and channel name uses YouTube's public oEmbed endpoint. Nothing that identifies you is sent with it. ──────────────────────────── VERSION HISTORY ──────────────────────────── v1.8.0 (2026-09-09) • Fixed the last-watched tag never …
