About YouTube Player Enhancer

YouTube Player Enhancer is a display assistance tool that makes YouTube player information and ad skip buttons easier to see. It can also place the comments section beside the video so you can read comments while watching. You can adjust the size and color of the skip button to suit your preferences. If the button blends into the background of a video and becomes difficult to see, you can select from multiple color presets or choose a custom color. For regular videos, the extension can display the current playback time and total video duration in a small panel inside the player. During ads, it displays the number of ads, remaining time, and skip availability based on information currently shown on the YouTube page. Each information item can be enabled or disabled separately on the options page. When using YouTube’s standard view at a browser width of 1,400 pixels or more, the comments section can be displayed to the left of the video player. The comments panel scrolls independently from the video, allowing you to read comments while continuing to watch. While the comments panel is open, the related videos section on the right is temporarily hidden. Turning off the comments panel restores YouTube’s standard layout. This feature is disabled by default. Main features • Enlarge the skip button from 1.0× to 2.0× • Change the button color using presets or a custom color • Display the current playback time and total duration of regular videos • Display the number of ads, remaining time, and skip availability during ads • Display player information in standard, theater, and fullscreen modes • Display the comments section to the left of the video player in standard view • Scroll the approximately 360-pixel-wide comments panel independently • Turn the comments panel on or off • Restore YouTube’s standard layout when the comments panel is turned off • Reapply settings after navigating between videos within YouTube • Save settings using Chrome sync storage About the comments panel The comments panel is available in YouTube’s standard view when the browser window is at least 1,400 pixels wide. It is not supported in theater mode or fullscreen mode. When the browser window is narrower than 1,400 pixels, YouTube’s standard layout is used. This feature changes the position of the comments section already displayed on the YouTube page. It does not post or edit comments, or change their order or content. Comment content is not collected, stored, or transmitted externally. About ad and video information This extension presents information that YouTube is currently displaying on the page in a more readable format. It does not estimate unavailable information using fixed durations or other assumptions. Some information may not be available depending on YouTube’s page layout or ad format. The extension does not automatically skip ads, click buttons, change the playback position or playback speed, hide ads, or mute ads automatically. It does not modify ad delivery or ad content. Permission used • storage: Used to save skip button appearance, information panel, and comments panel settings in Chrome. Settings are saved to chrome.storage.sync. Diagnostic information required for troubleshooting is stored in chrome.storage.local only when a problem is detected, with a maximum of 30 entries stored on the device. Diagnostic information does not include video titles, video URLs, or comment content. No diagnostic information is transmitted to an external server. Stored diagnostic information can be viewed and deleted from the options page. This extension is not provided, endorsed, or operated by YouTube or Google. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
