YouTube Enhanced adds a set of browser-side playback, viewing, and productivity controls to YouTube — nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't block ads, bypass YouTube Premium, or download videos, and it isn't a replacement for the service. All your settings, notes, resume positions, profiles, and local history stay on your device. PLAYBACK • Smart Auto Pause — pauses when you switch tabs and resumes only if the extension itself paused it. A video you paused manually stays paused. • Picture-in-Picture — open a real floating mini-player with a dedicated control. • Speed Presets — quickly switch between 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and 2x. • Custom Skip Controls — configure skip-forward and skip-back durations. • Loop — repeat the current video. • Volume Boost — push past the browser's native 100% level, up to 300%. • Video Filters — adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation. • Double-Tap Skip Zones — double-click the edge of the video to skip, like mobile video apps. VIEWING • Focus Mode — 7 independent toggles to hide comments, recommendations, Shorts shelves, end-screen suggestions, homepage recommendations, live chat, and notification prompts. • Theater Mode — one-click toggle, or set it to automatically apply on every video. PRODUCTIVITY • Timestamped Notes — bookmark a moment in any video and jump back to it later. • Continue Watching — remembers your position in longer videos and offers to resume, without interfering with YouTube's own resume behavior. • Recent History — a local, clearable list of what you've watched. • Playback Profiles — save combinations of settings as named presets and apply them with one click. • Keyboard Shortcuts — 15 configurable shortcuts available through Chrome's own shortcut settings. • Sponsor Segment Skip — optional and off by default. Automatically skips community-flagged sponsor segments using the SponsorBlock database. • Backup & Restore — export or import your extension data as a local JSON file and reset your preferences whenever you want. PRIVACY Everything is stored locally in your browser. No analytics. No tracking. No user account. No remote backend operated by YouTube Enhanced. The only external network request made by the extension is the optional Sponsor Segment Skip lookup. When enabled, it sends only a privacy-preserving partial hash of the video ID, never the full ID.
