Xpurge

Xpurge deletes your old tweets in bulk, so you do not have to scroll back through years of your own timeline clicking delete on every one. It works on X, the site most of us still call Twitter. Choose what to remove: posts older than a year, posts about a topic you no longer want on your profile, every retweet, or all of your likes. You can combine filters, and Xpurge works through the matches with pauses between deletions. Nothing is uploaded. Xpurge works through the X session you are already signed in to, so there is no account to create and no password to hand over. WHAT YOU CAN CLEAR Posts, replies, reposts and likes, separately or together. Whether you call them tweets or posts, retweets or reposts, Xpurge removes the same things. By date: everything before a year you pick, or inside a range you set. By words: posts mentioning particular words, phrases, handles or hashtags. Regular expressions are supported if you want them. By engagement: set a limit on likes, reposts or replies. Posts above any of those limits stay. By media: only posts with a photo or video, or only posts without. WHAT YOU CAN PROTECT Your pinned post stays by default. You can also protect any post that mentions particular words, and list specific posts by ID that should never be touched. You can name the people whose conversations you want left alone, and any post replying to or mentioning one of them is kept. Protection is checked before anything else, so a protected post cannot be caught by another filter. BEFORE ANYTHING IS DELETED Check the summary of what your settings will remove and which posts are protected. If it does not match what you had in mind, adjust your filters before starting. Try a test run to see which posts match your filters. It records the matches without deleting anything. HOW IT WORKS Xpurge uses the same controls you would: it opens a post's menu, chooses delete and confirms. It never asks for your X password and never uploads your posts. X can slow down accounts that delete too quickly, so Xpurge leaves a gap between deletions and a longer pause between batches, and it stops if it detects throttling or too many failures in a row. Those limits are on by default, and you can always make them slower. Backups are on by default. Xpurge saves a copy of each post on your computer before it removes it, and Pro lets you download those records as JSON or a spreadsheet. POSTS OLDER THAN YOUR TIMELINE X only serves your most recent 3,200 posts, so anything older cannot be found by scrolling. If your account goes back further, request your archive from X under Settings, then Your account, then Download an archive of your data. Load the ZIP into Xpurge and it will work through the older posts too. The file is read on your computer and never uploaded. FREE AND PRO The free version clears 50 posts or likes a day and includes every filter and every protection. Posts, replies, reposts and likes all draw on the same daily allowance. Pro removes the daily limit, adds archive import for posts older than your most recent 3,200, lets you download your records, and lets you lift the speed limits if you accept the risk to your account. It is a subscription: 4 US dollars a week, 6 a month, or 40 a year, whichever billing suits you. It renews until you cancel, and you can cancel any time. You get a key by email as soon as you subscribe, and you paste it into the extension. WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU START Deleting on X is permanent. Xpurge keeps a record of what it removed, but nothing can put a post back. Keep the X tab on screen while it runs. Your browser stops loading pages in a background tab, so X stops producing posts to work through. Xpurge notices this, waits, and carries on when you return.
