About Weft
Your clothes touch your skin all day — what they're made of matters.
Weft shows the fabric composition (for example, "100% Cotton" or "95% Polyester,
5% Elastane") right underneath each product on supported clothing sites — so you
can spot breathable, natural-fiber pieces at a glance, without clicking into
every product page.
WHY FABRIC MATTERS
• Natural fibers like cotton, wool, and linen breathe, wick moisture, and tend
to be gentler on sensitive skin.
• Synthetic-heavy fabrics like polyester, nylon, and acrylic trap heat and
sweat, can hold onto odor, and shed microplastics in the wash.
• If you have sensitive skin, run hot, or simply prefer natural materials,
fabric content is the one detail that's hardest to find — usually buried at
the bottom of the product page.
Weft puts it front and center. Every item gets a quick badge, plus a simple
signal: a green check for pieces that are at least 60% cotton, and a red mark
for synthetic-heavy ones — so you can shop for what's closest to your skin in
seconds.
WHERE IT WORKS
Weft supports eleven major clothing retailers. The full list is shown in the
permission prompt when you install it, so you can see exactly which sites are
covered before you add it. On eight of them the fabric appears on both category
listings and product pages; on the other three it appears on product pages only,
because Weft reads the fabric from the page you already have open and never
contacts those sites at all — which is also why it needs no permission for them.
Everywhere else, Weft stays completely inert.
HOW IT WORKS
On a listing page, Weft looks up the fabric for each product and displays it as
a small label below the product title. It only looks up products as you scroll
to them, rather than requesting every item on the page at once, and it backs off
automatically if a retailer is under load.
Results are cached locally on your device for up to 30 days, so repeat visits
are instant and retailer servers aren't hit unnecessarily.
YOUR PRIVACY — WHAT WEFT DOES NOT DO
• No data is sent off your device. Nothing is uploaded, shared, or sold.
• No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry.
• No remote code — all logic ships inside the extension package.
• No accounts, no logins, no required settings.
The optional toolbar popup is read-only and shows on-device counters (cache
hits, successful fetches, rate-limit events). It has no controls and makes no
network requests.
PERMISSIONS
• Storage — to cache fabric composition strings locally on your device.
• Site access for eight of the supported retailers — required to read product
detail pages so the composition can be extracted. The sites are named in the
install prompt.
• No site access is requested for the remaining three. Weft reads the fabric
from the product page you already have open and makes no requests to them.
Weft is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or
sponsored by any retailer. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
