The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Web Scraper Lite - Table Extractor: HTML Table to CSV
Web Scraper Lite is a free, lightweight Chrome extension that extracts HTML tables, data grids and repeating lists from any webpage and exports them to CSV for Excel or Google Sheets in one click. There are no rules, selectors or XPath to configure, no account to create, and everything runs locally in your browser.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT
• Export a table from a website to Excel. The CSV is saved as UTF-8 with BOM, so accented, Chinese, Japanese and other non-English text opens correctly in Excel, WPS and Numbers.
• Paste a web table straight into Google Sheets or Excel. "Copy" puts the data on your clipboard as tab-separated values, so every value lands in its own cell.
• Scrape product grids, search results and directory listings. Repeating card lists are turned into rows and columns automatically.
• Collect a paginated table across several pages. Web Scraper Lite clicks "Next" or the page numbers for you and merges the rows (up to 5 pages per run on the free plan).
• Clean up messy admin-panel and dashboard tables before exporting: trim whitespace, remove duplicate rows and choose which columns to keep.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open a webpage that shows a table or a list.
2. Click the Web Scraper Lite icon. The side panel opens and lists every table and list it found on the page.
3. Pick one (it is highlighted on the page), preview it, then click Export CSV or Copy.
WHAT IT DETECTS
• Standard HTML tables, including merged cells (colspan / rowspan) and tables with a separate fixed header
• Accessible data grids and the virtualized data tables used by many modern web apps and admin dashboards
• Repeating card lists built from div elements: products, listings, search results, profiles
• Charts laid out column by column, such as size charts and spec sheets built from div elements
• Tables inside embedded frames (iframes), such as the size guide that opens in a pop-up on many clothing stores
• Pagination controls: "Next" buttons and numbered page links. If auto-detection misses one, click "Pick next button" and select it on the page.
WHY "LITE"
• No setup: no sitemaps, selectors, recipes or templates
• About 160 KB, opens in the Chrome side panel next to the page
• No account, no sign-up
• Works on pages you are logged into, because it reads the page you are already viewing (server-side tools such as Google Sheets IMPORTHTML cannot)
• Your data stays on your device: parsing, preview and file generation all happen in the browser. No analytics, no tracking.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I export a table from a website to Excel?
Open the page, click the Web Scraper Lite icon, select the table in the side panel and click Export CSV. Double-click the downloaded file to open it in Excel.
How do I get a web table into Google Sheets?
Select the table, click Copy, then paste into a cell in Google Sheets. Each value goes into its own cell. You can also import the CSV with File → Import.
Do I need to write rules, selectors or XPath?
No. Tables and lists are detected automatically when you open the side panel.
Can it extract data from multiple pages?
Yes. It follows "Next" buttons or numbered pages and merges the rows. The free plan collects up to 5 pages per run.
Does it upload my data?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser. The extension has no servers and no analytics.
Will it nag me?
No pop-ups. After a few successful exports or copies, a small rating reminder appears at the bottom of the side panel. Choose "Later" or "Don't ask again"; it shows at most twice. The export count it uses is stored only on your device.
Why does Chrome say it can read data on websites?
To find tables, the extension has to read the page you are on. It only reads a page when you use it in the side panel, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Can it copy a size chart from a clothing store?
Yes. Open the size guide, then open the side panel. Size charts in pop-ups and embedded frames are detected, including charts laid out column by column, and letter and numeric sizes are combined into one header such as "XS 0".
Is it free?
Yes. CSV export, copy, cleaning, column selection and 5-page collection are free. Excel (.xlsx) export and unlimited pages are planned for a future Pro version.
LIMITATIONS (GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE INSTALLING)
• Infinite-scroll and "Load more" lists are not collected automatically yet
• Works on regular http/https pages, not on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store or PDF files
• Up to 100,000 rows per collection
