The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Visual Crawler: extract data from any website
Found the data you want to track on a page? Click it.
With the extension open, each click marks an element on the page and adds it to a numbered list. Name the fields right there, next to the value: Price, Author. Clicked the wrong thing? Click it again and it is gone.
When you are done, click Send to Visual Crawler. Visual Crawler opens in a new tab with the fields and values you chose. You check them and confirm. It captures the page on our server and links each field to the data you clicked. If the page our server sees differs from yours, a field that does not match stays open in the editor, and you link it by clicking the page.
From there the extraction belongs to Visual Crawler.
Pages behind your login
A page that only opens with your login, such as a court's list of your cases, is invisible to our server. For it, click Capture this page. The extension copies the page as you see it and Visual Crawler opens in a new tab so you can follow the fields you chose. If you want, turn on automatic refresh: while Chrome is open, once a day, the extension opens the page in a background tab and sends the new copy. It does this only on the sites you allow, stops when the site asks you to log in again, and never signs in for you.
What the extension reads
Only the page where you clicked the extension button, only while you stay on it. When you pick data, only the elements you click: their text, tag and position. When you capture, the page as you see it, without scripts, form values, hidden fields, cookies or data the site keeps in your browser. The extension never reads passwords. In your browser it keeps only the list of pages you asked it to refresh (address, name, hour and last result). A capture Visual Crawler has not received yet stays in memory for at most 10 minutes. Nothing is sent without your click, or without the automatic refresh you turned on.
Requires a Visual Crawler account. The free plan creates up to 3 models with up to 5 fields each. Following a page behind a login is part of the paid plans.
Shortcut: Alt+Shift+V (change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts).
