The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About VirusTotal Lookup
Quickly check indicators of compromise on VirusTotal without leaving the page you're on.
VirusTotal Lookup lets you search IP addresses, domains, URLs, and file hashes directly
from your browser's right-click menu or by clicking the toolbar icon, making it easy to
verify suspicious links, downloads, and files during security research or incident
response.
Features:
- Right-Click Lookup: Highlight text or right-click a link, then choose "Search on
VirusTotal" to open the matching report in a new tab.
- Automatic Indicator Detection: Recognizes IP addresses, domains, URLs, and file hashes
(MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256) and routes each to the correct VirusTotal report page.
- Smart Fallback Search: Anything that doesn't match a known indicator type is sent to a
VirusTotal search instead of guessing, so you still get useful results.
- Google Redirect Resolution: Right-clicking a Google search result link resolves to the
real destination URL before searching, not the Google redirect wrapper.
- Direct Download Detection: Recognizes direct file download links (.exe, .zip, .apk,
.js, .ps1, and more) and checks them accurately on VirusTotal.
- One-Click Current Tab Scan: Click the toolbar icon to send the page you're currently on
straight to VirusTotal.
Why Use VirusTotal Lookup?
Security analysts, researchers, and incident responders can save time by checking
suspicious indicators on VirusTotal in a couple of clicks, without manually copying and
pasting values into the VirusTotal website. This extension does not upload files or
trigger scans automatically, it only opens existing VirusTotal report pages.
