The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About VeilText - Profanity Filter
The modern web moves fast, and so does the amount of offensive, toxic, or unwanted text you can run into while browsing comment sections, social feeds, forums, and search results included. This extension gives you a simple, private way to filter that content out, without waiting on a platform's moderation team and without sending a single word of what you browse to an outside server.
Once installed, the extension scans the text on the pages you visit including content that loads dynamically as you scroll, like comments and live feeds and checks it against a keyword list. That list comes pre-loaded with a curated set of common profanity and offensive terms, but it's entirely yours to edit: add words, remove words, or build your own list from scratch to match exactly what you don't want to see.
When a match is found, the extension doesn't just silently delete it. You choose how it's handled:
Blur – the text is visually obscured but still occupies its place on the page
Hide – the text is removed and replaced with a neutral placeholder
Replace – the text is swapped for a word or symbol you specify
If you ever want to see what was filtered, a "View Anyway" toggle lets you reveal the original text with a click and hide it again just as easily. Nothing is permanently deleted from the page; you're always the one deciding what to see.
Because so much of today's web content loads after the initial page comments appear as you scroll, feeds refreshing automatically the extension continuously watches the page for new content and applies the same filtering the moment it appears. You're not just protected from what's on the page when it first loads; you're protected as the page keeps changing.
This extension does everything locally, in your browser. Your keyword list, your browsing content, and your filter settings never leave your device. There's no external server processing your data, no analytics tracking your activity, and no third party involved in deciding what gets filtered. What you filter and how it stays between you and your browser.
-Protect your online experience. Reduce unwanted exposure to offensive or distressing language while browsing social media, forums, news sites, or anywhere else text-heavy content appears.
-Stay in control, not locked out. Unlike hard blocking tools, this extension lets you decide in the moment whether to view filtered content. It's a filter, not a gatekeeper.
-Customize it to your needs. Whether you want a light touch or a strict filter, you define the keyword list and how matches are displayed.
-Peace of mind for shared devices. Parents and educators can use it to reduce younger users' exposure to inappropriate language while still keeping the page functional and readable.
-No data leaves your device. Everything runs locally and nothing about what you browse or what you've chosen to filter is ever transmitted anywhere.
-Lightweight and discreet. Designed to run efficiently in the background without slowing down your browsing or breaking page layouts.
Whether you're trying to browse more comfortably, curate a calmer online environment, or simply want more say over the words that show up on your screen, this extension puts that control back in your hands quietly, locally, and entirely on your terms.
