About Treedent - Tab Manager
====================================================
TREEDENT
====================================================
Treedent is a privacy-first tree-style tab manager for Google Chrome.
It transforms overwhelming tab chaos into a structured, collapsible tree. Tabs opened from a page stay linked as children, so browsing sessions keep their context. Whether you work with research-heavy workflows, many windows, or long-running sessions, Treedent helps you stay organized and keep control.
Treedent v2 uses a rebuilt runtime focused on reliability: session state is managed authoritatively in the background, with deterministic persistence and restoration.
====================
KEY FEATURES
====================
▪ Authoritative Session Runtime (v2)
Treedent now uses a background-owned source of truth for session and tree state, improving consistency and reducing drift.
▪ Tree-Style Sidebar
View tabs and folders in a nested hierarchy and collapse branches to reduce noise.
▪ Drag-and-Drop Reordering and Nesting
Move tabs or whole branches exactly where you need them in the tree.
▪ Search, Multi-Select, and Bulk Actions
Find items quickly and apply actions across multiple tabs at once. Sidebar selections are reflected in Chrome's highlighted tabs; closing selected tabs leaves unselected descendants open.
▪ Snapshot History and Restore
Capture workspace snapshots and restore full sessions or individual snapshot windows.
▪ All-Live Active-Window Management
View and manage trees from all live Chrome windows, activate a window, and move or import items between available windows. Choose a folder-style tree with indented window contents or a single expanded window layout in Options. Drag window headers to reorder them; the order survives restart and restore.
▪ Automatic Discard Exclusions
Keep individual tabs or entire tab and folder subtrees loaded using context-menu exclusions. Subtree protection includes future descendants while they remain in the branch. Add exact-URL, URL-prefix, or regular-expression exclusions in Options, with individual rule toggles. Exclusions survive restart and restore; manual discard remains available.
▪ URL-Based Folder Rules
Automatically place matching unpinned tabs into folders using ordered starts-with, exact-match, or regular-expression URL rules.
▪ Deterministic Startup Recovery
Treedent applies explicit restore rules for restart, crash, and interrupted-runtime scenarios while avoiding accidental session overwrite.
▪ Tab and Branch Operations
Activate, pin/unpin, duplicate, refresh, mute, discard, close, copy link, and run branch-level actions.
▪ Window Workflows
Move selected items to new or existing windows and import trees from other windows, with live-window targeting.
▪ In-Page Sidebar Mode
Use Treedent in Chrome side panel mode or in-page injected mode with configurable position, width, and behavior.
▪ Deep Focus and Auto-Collapse
Focus on one branch at a time and reduce unrelated tree noise during tab switching.
▪ Options, Logs, and Debugging
Configure behavior, language, and styling, and inspect logs, snapshots, and runtime diagnostics directly in the extension UI.
▪ Onboarding, Contextual Help, and Recovery Guidance
Follow the built-in onboarding tour, replay Help when needed, and get contextual guidance for common empty, restoring, or recovery states.
▪ Flexible Theming and Styling
Use consistent styling across the sidebar and Options, with built-in themes, live preview, saved custom themes, and advanced style settings.
▪ Privacy-First Design
No hidden telemetry. Your tab/session data stays local in your browser.
▪ Keyboard and Drop Shortcuts
Open the current page in a standalone popup with [Ctrl+Shift+F] ([Command+Shift+F] on macOS), drop text into the tree to open an external search tab, or drop a link to open its page at the drop location.

WHAT'S NEW
====================
----------------------------------------------------
Treedent 2.3.3 • Window ordering, discard exclusions, and tab selection
----------------------------------------------------
Organize live windows, choose which tabs stay loaded, and keep sidebar selections aligned with Chrome.
• Reorder live-window headers by dragging; the order is saved and preserved across restart and restore in both All live windows layouts.
• Exclude individual tabs or entire tab and folder subtrees from automatic discard through the context menu. Subtree protection includes future descendants while they remain in the branch.
• Manage automatic-discard URL exclusions in Options using exact URL, URL prefix, or regular-expression rules. Enable or disable rules individually; manual discard remains available.
• Sidebar selection now updates Chrome's highlighted tabs. The active tab is preserved when selected; otherwise a selected tab becomes active. Clearing selection leaves only the active tab highlighted.
• When the sidebar receives Ctrl+W (Cmd+W on macOS), its close action targets selected tabs, or the focused tab when nothing is selected, and leaves unselected descendants open. Text-editing fields keep their normal keyboard behavior.
• Automatic-discard menu tooltips explain that ancestor and URL protections still apply when direct exclusions are removed.
• Fixed multi-selection being cleared when holding a selected tab before starting a drag. Normal clicks and double-click rename continue to work.
----------------------------------------------------
Treedent 2.3.2 • Flexible live-window layouts, faster tab actions, and safer session handling
