The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About TransLens - Language Learning Tool
Two ways to learn vocabulary from foreign-language pages:
① Select any text → instant translation popup → tap [+] to save to your word library
② Auto-annotation → new words highlighted with inline translations as you browse
Both paths feed into a spaced repetition scheduler (SM-2, like Anki) so you review words right before you'd forget them.
HOW IT WORKS
① Level check (30 seconds, skippable)
Pick your CEFR level (A1–C1) manually or take a quick vocab test. TransLens uses this to skip words you already know.
② Browse any foreign page
Visit a page in your target language. TransLens highlights unfamiliar words with dotted underlines and inline translations. Hover for phonetics and CEFR level.
③ Select text to translate
See a word you want to look up? Select it → floating button appears → click (or press Alt+T, or right-click → "翻译选中文本"). Translation popup shows the word, meaning, and phonetic. Tap [+] to add it to your learning library.
④ Spaced review
Words you save enter the SM-2 scheduler. They come back at increasing intervals — 1 day, 3 days, 7 days — so you remember them long-term.
KEY FEATURES
🖱️ Select to translate
Select any text on a webpage, click the floating button (or press Alt+T), and get an instant translation. Optionally add the word to your SRS learning library for spaced review.
🎯 Personalized by level
Words are filtered based on your CEFR level — no more annotating "the", "is", or "water" for intermediate learners.
🧠 Spaced Repetition (SRS)
Built-in SM-2 algorithm tracks easiness, intervals, and mastery. Reviews words just before you forget them.
🤖 AI-Powered Translation
Choose from OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (DeepSeek, Ollama, llama.cpp, etc.). Context-aware, sentence-level translations.
🌍 10 source languages
English, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Arabic — or bring your own regex.
⚙️ Customizable
Adjust daily new-word caps, selection ratio, annotation size, and disable specific sites (with wildcard support like *.google.com).
🔒 Privacy First
All data lives in chrome.storage.local. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics. Text is only sent to the AI provider you configure.
FAQ
Q: Do I need to import a word list?
A: No. TransLens picks words automatically from pages you visit, filtered by your level. You can also add words manually by selecting text and clicking the translate button.
Q: Do I need an API key?
A: Yes — bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, or point TransLens at a local AI server (Ollama, llama.cpp, etc.).
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: Everything — settings, vocabulary, SRS progress — stays in your browser's chrome.storage.local. Nothing is sent to developer-controlled servers.
Q: Why does TransLens need to read web page content?
A: To detect foreign-language text and annotate unfamiliar words, and to translate user-selected text. Form fields (search boxes, text areas) are explicitly skipped.
SUPPORTED LANGUAGES

PRIVACY POLICY
TransLens does not operate a developer server, does not use analytics, and does not sell user data. The level assessment runs entirely on-device. For translation, the extension sends the selected word and surrounding text only to the AI provider you configure.
