About Transcriptube – YouTube Transcript & Summary
Reading is faster than watching. Transcriptube puts the transcript and an AI summary of the YouTube video you have open into Chrome's side panel – next to the video, one click away.
WHAT IT DOES
- Opens the current video's transcript and summary in the side panel. The panel follows your active tab: open another video and it shows that one.
- The summary is bullet points with timecodes, in any of 14 languages. Copy it, or save it as a text file.
- Full transcript with instant search. Click a timecode and the video on the page jumps there; while it plays, the current line is highlighted.
- Ask about the video: answers come from the transcript, with the minute they came from, and the price is shown before you send.
- Videos without captions are recognised from speech – up to 10 minutes free, priced by the minute after that, with live progress that survives closing the panel or the laptop going to sleep.
- Your own audio and video files: drop them on the panel. Length is read locally, a video's sound is separated in your browser, and only that is uploaded.
- Paste a link – TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook or any YouTube URL – without opening a tab.
- Recent: everything you have run, on your account, on any device.
FREE AND PAID
Sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email – no password. Three videos a day are free, each with its transcript and summary; videos without captions and your own files count too, up to 10 minutes each. For more – a fourth video in a day, a summary of a video over 90 minutes, longer speech recognition, questions – the price is shown before anything is charged: a single-video unlock, a credit pack or a subscription. Payment is handled by Stripe in a normal browser tab.
PRIVACY, PLAINLY
The extension sees the address of YouTube tabs and, when you open the panel on another site, the address of that one tab – never your history or other tabs. A video or file is sent to our server only when you press the button for it. AI features ask for your permission first: transcripts go to OpenAI and Anthropic, the audio of files and captionless videos to Deepgram. Details: https://transcriptube.com/privacy
