The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About TimeBack
TimeBack shows how much time you save by watching YouTube faster than 1× by day, week and month.
HOW IT WORKS
Watch YouTube as usual. TimeBack notes the playback speed while a video plays with sound and turns it into time saved. At 2×, a 20-minute video takes 10 minutes: 10 minutes saved. Skipping ahead never counts as time saved, and muted playback, ads, Shorts, live streams and previews are never counted.
WHAT YOU GET
• Popup: what's playing now, time saved today and this week, your streak and your next milestone.
• On-video label: speed, time saved on this video and the real time left, right above the player (with the controls, always, or off).
• Dashboard: day, week and month reports, time saved per day, a 12-week or 12-month trend, time by speed, top videos and channels, with a table view for every chart.
• YouTube videos embedded on other sites (blogs, course sites, wikis) count too, reported as "Other sites".
SPEED CONTROLS
• Keyboard: S slower, D faster, in 0.1× steps from 0.25× up to 4×. R switches between 1× and your last speed. You can turn the keys off.
• Popup buttons for the video playing now.
• Channel speeds: pin a speed to a channel, and its videos start at that speed. Other channels go back to your usual speed.
STREAKS, MILESTONES AND AN OPTIONAL DAILY LIMIT
• Streak: the days in a row on which you saved time. Days you don't watch are skipped, so it never pushes you to watch more.
• Milestones at 1, 5, 10, 24, 50 and 100 hours saved, then every 100 hours.
• Daily limit (off by default): choose 30 minutes, 1, 2 or 3 hours, or any time from 5 minutes to 12 hours of real watching time, and get a short notice on the video when you pass it. Playback never stops.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no ads, no analytics and no network requests. Nothing is sent to anyone, including the developer.
• Your history stays in Chrome on your computer. Incognito windows are never recorded.
• Export a JSON backup or CSV file any time, import a backup, or delete a date range, a video, a channel or everything.
• Light and dark themes that follow your system.
