About Time Limiter for Facebook: Daily Limit & Blocker

Set a daily time limit for Facebook and stick to it. Time Limiter for Facebook tracks how long you actually spend on Facebook, warns you before your time runs out, and blocks Facebook until midnight once you reach your limit. Lost an hour to the news feed again? Opened Facebook to answer one message and ended up scrolling Reels? Facebook is designed to keep you scrolling. This extension gives you a simple daily budget, so you decide how much time Facebook gets, not the feed. KEY FEATURES • Daily Facebook time limit from 1 to 240 minutes • Accurate timer that counts only active use: a Facebook tab must be visible and focused • Pauses automatically when you step away from your computer • Watching Reels and videos still counts, even without touching the mouse • Notification when 90% of your daily limit is used • Facebook blocker: when your time is up, open Facebook tabs are blocked, along with new tabs, reloads and m.facebook.com • Friendly block page with a countdown to your next reset • Automatic reset every day at midnight, local time • Progress bar showing time used and time left today • Time is counted once, no matter how many Facebook tabs or windows are open WHY A DAILY TIME LIMIT INSTEAD OF BLOCKING FACEBOOK COMPLETELY Blocking Facebook entirely rarely lasts. A daily limit is easier to live with: you still get time each day for messages, groups, events and Marketplace, but endless scrolling stops when your time is up. People use it to: • Cut down social media screen time and doomscrolling • Stay focused and productive while studying or working from home • Break the habit of opening Facebook without thinking • Build a healthier daily routine online HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar 2. Click the icon and choose your daily limit (30 minutes by default) 3. Use Facebook as usual; the timer runs only while you're actively using it 4. Get a notification when you're close to your limit 5. When your time is up, Facebook is blocked until midnight FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does it count time when Facebook is open in a background tab? No. Time is counted only while a Facebook tab is visible and focused. Background tabs, minimized windows and time spent in other apps don't count. What if I leave Facebook open and walk away? The timer pauses after about a minute without keyboard or mouse activity. If a video is playing, time keeps counting, so watching Reels hands-free isn't a loophole. Does it limit Messenger? Messages you read on facebook.com count toward your limit and are blocked with the rest of Facebook. The separate messenger.com website and the Messenger app are not affected. Does it work on the Facebook app on my phone? No. Chrome extensions only run in Chrome on desktop computers, so the Facebook app on your phone isn't limited. Can I change my limit? Yes, anytime from the extension popup. The new limit applies right away. When does the timer reset? Every day at midnight, based on your computer's clock. Does it work in incognito mode? Only if you allow the extension in incognito in Chrome's extension settings. Will it slow down Facebook? No. It only checks every few seconds whether your Facebook tab is visible, and it doesn't change the page content. Does it collect my data? No. Your usage time is stored only on your device. There's no account, no analytics and no ads, and nothing is sent to any server. PRIVACY • All data stays in your browser's local storage • No account or sign-up needed • No tracking, analytics or ads • Only facebook.com is measured; other websites are ignored WHAT'S NEW • Tracks Facebook tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated • Blocks Facebook on new tabs and reloads once the limit is reached • Pauses the timer while you're away from your computer • Daily reset now works even if Chrome stays open overnight • Fixed the 90% warning sometimes not appearing • Fixed the block page countdown Time Limiter for Facebook is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc.
