Tabs from the same site group themselves, using Chrome's own tab groups.
Open a second GitHub tab and both sit in a "🐟 github" group. Close one and the group goes away. Gmail and Google Docs share a "🐟 google" group, because TabShoal groups by site, not by address. It works the same with Chrome's vertical tabs.
It stays out of your way:
• Your own groups are never touched.
• A tab you drag out of a group stays out until you press Regroup all.
• Pinned tabs never move.
• Collapse, rename, drag and close groups as you always have. They're ordinary Chrome tab groups.
Five settings, all optional:
• How many tabs a site needs before it gets a group (2 by default)
• Sites never to group, such as localhost
• Short group names (🐟 google) or full ones (🐟 google.com)
• Collapse the groups you're not using
• Keep groups at the start of the tab strip
From the toolbar button you can pause TabShoal for one window, or regroup everything at once.
Private: nothing you browse leaves your browser. TabShoal reads which site each tab is on, never what's on the page. No analytics, no account.
Free for 14 days, no card needed. Then $10, £10 or €10 a year.
TabShoal is open source under GPL-3.0. Your licence pays for keeping it working as Chrome changes, and anyone may build it from source themselves.
