The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About TabFreeze - Safe Tab Discarder
TabFreeze helps Chrome stay responsive by safely discarding idle tabs while keeping them visible and ready to restore.
Before a tab is discarded, TabFreeze checks for unsaved forms and playing media. It also respects pinned tabs and sites you choose to protect. When you need a page again, click Restore—or click the tab row—to reload it and switch back immediately.
Key features:
- Automatically discard tabs after 15 minutes to 4 hours of inactivity
- Discard individual tabs or other tabs in the current window
- Restore discarded tabs with one click
- Protect unsaved forms, playing media, pinned tabs, and excluded sites
- View live tab status, site icons, and addresses across Chrome windows
- Add exact domains or wildcard rules to Never discard
- Keep all safety checks on your device
- No servers, no tracking, and no estimated memory claims
TabFreeze uses Chrome’s native tab discard capability. Discarding unloads a page from memory but does not close the tab. The page reloads when restored.
Website access is optional and requested only to detect unsaved forms and playing media. Icon access is also optional. Both permissions can be revoked at any time.
