About Tabby — your tab-judging cat
Meet Tabby, an orange tabby who lives in your Chrome toolbar, counts your tabs, and has opinions.
What she does
- Counts your tabs on the toolbar badge. The badge color follows her mood, from Purring to Full zoomies.
- Talks to you in a speech bubble when you click her. Click her face for a new line.
- Finds fossils: tabs open for 14 or more days (you can change this) that you have not looked at in over a day. Close them one at a time, or shoo them all.
- Swat party: pick a batch of tabs (quick picks for Fossils, Copycats, Ignored 1+ day, This site, or Everything) and watch her paw knock them off a little tabletop, one by one.
- Spots copycats: the same page open twice. She closes the extras.
- Recently shooed: anything she closes can be brought back with one tap.
- Nags you (politely, mostly) with a notification when you go over your limit, at most every 30 minutes, and once a day about fossils.
- Optional: let her pop onto pages with a short comment. Click her to shoo her away.
Private by design
Everything stays on your computer. No servers, no accounts, no tracking.
Good to know
Chrome does not record when a tab was opened, so Tabby starts keeping track the moment she is installed. For tabs that were already open she uses the last time you looked at them as a best guess.
