About Tab-DJ
Your tab. Your sound. Your show.
Tab-DJ brings independent volume, playback speed, bass, transpose, and pitch controls to your browser tabs. Fine-tune a video, stream, or supported audio player without changing the mix in your other tabs.
MAKE IT YOUR MIX
• Boost volume up to 600% or turn it down.
• Set playback speed with presets, 0.1× and 0.01× adjustments, or a custom value.
• Boost or reduce bass from −18 dB to +18 dB.
• Transpose up or down by 12 semitones and fine-tune pitch by ±100 cents while keeping playback speed unchanged.
• Skip backward or forward by 10 or 30 seconds.
GLOBAL OR JUST THIS SITE
Save playback defaults globally or create a config for a website. New tabs use that site's saved defaults when available, with global defaults as the fallback. Switch between Global and This Site to apply their saved values and choose where playback saves go.
Save individual controls or use Save Defaults to save all current playback values together. Apply saved values, return the tab to standard playback, or reset only the selected default config. Manage and remove saved sites from a collapsible list with website icons.
CONTROLS RIGHT ON YOUR VIDEO
The enabled-by-default compact overlay shows speed and volume on the player. Choose an interactive layout, drag it to your preferred position, or resize it proportionally. Adjust scale, Background Transparency, and Foreground Transparency independently. Overlay preferences stay global and have their own save/reset controls.
SHORTCUTS THAT FIT YOUR HANDS
Click a shortcut box and press a key or a combination with Ctrl, Alt, Shift, or Command. Release all keys to confirm, then Save. Capture starts only when you click the box; Escape or clicking away cancels it. Choose your speed and volume adjustment increments separately. Shortcuts and increments stay global.
LOCAL AUDIO PROCESSING
Audio effects run locally in your browser. No accounts, advertising, analytics, or audio uploads. Preferences and explicitly saved site origins and favicon snapshots stay in local extension storage.
Works with supported HTML5 video and audio players, including detached audio players used by sites such as SoundCloud. Some protected players, live streams, browser-reserved shortcuts, and custom audio engines may restrict controls.
Audio effects use Chrome's tab-audio capture, which displays a capture/sharing indicator. Activate audio through the toolbar or Ctrl+Shift+Y (Command+Shift+Y on Mac). Pitch shifting adds a small audio delay; high volume boosts can cause distortion.
