The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Tab Curator - Smart Tab Manager
You have 47 tabs open.
Some of them have been sitting there for weeks.
You're not even sure what half of them are anymore.
Tab Curator helps you clean up tab clutter without losing important tabs.
It tracks your tab activity and tells you exactly which tabs you haven’t touched in a while, so you can clean up without losing tabs that matter.
It can also search inside your open tabs with Deep Search, helping you find information in that one obscure tab buried between all your other tabs.
🔴 Smart tab insights
The extension icon badge shows when your tabs need attention.
It counts:
- unused tabs that have been sitting idle
- duplicate tabs you've accidentally opened
- Open the popup to instantly review what’s worth closing.
⏱ Unused tab detection
Tab Curator tracks the last time you actually looked at each tab.
Once a tab sits untouched past your threshold (default: 30 minutes, fully adjustable), it’s flagged as expired.
You stay in control.
Click Review to see only expired and duplicate tabs, or Close to close all expired tabs with one click.
🔍 Deep search — find text inside any open tab
Normal tab search only looks at titles and URLs.
Deep search goes further.
It scans the visible text inside your open pages so you can find the information you remember, even if you forgot the tab title.
Search results include a snippet of matching content. Click a result and the matching text is highlighted directly on the page.
🔁 Duplicate tab detection
Opened the same page twice without realizing it?
Tab Curator detects duplicate URLs across all your tabs and clearly shows which one is the copy.
No more mystery duplicates wasting space.
🔒 Tab protection
Some tabs should never be closed.
Lock any tab and it becomes fully protected:
- never flagged as expired
- never auto-closed
- never included in cleanup
Protection follows the URL, not the tab.
If you close and reopen that page later, it remains protected automatically.
Pinned tabs are auto-protected by default (configurable).
You can also protect tabs via:
- the popup
- right-click context menu
- keyboard shortcut
🔖 Save for later
Not ready to read that article yet? Save the tab for later.
The tab closes immediately, but the link stays safely in your Saved list until you want it back.
Reopen it with one click.
📋 Recently closed history
Every tab that gets closed is recorded in your Closed history.
This includes tabs closed:
- manually
- through cleanup
- automatically by Tab Curator
Auto-closed tabs are clearly labeled so you always know what happened.
Reopen anything instantly.
⚙ Fully configurable
Tab Curator adapts to your browsing style.
Settings include:
- inactivity threshold for expired tabs
- tab count warning limits
- auto-protect pinned tabs
- inactivity tracking while Chrome is closed
- automatic cleanup schedules
You decide how strict or relaxed tab cleanup should be.
⌨ Keyboard shortcuts
Quick actions are available from anywhere:
Alt + Shift + Z — protect or unprotect current tab
Alt + Shift + X — close all expired tabs
Alt + Shift + S — save current tab for later
All shortcuts are customizable through Chrome's extension shortcut settings.
🌙 Light and dark mode
Switch between light and dark mode directly from the popup.
Your preference is remembered automatically.
🔐 Privacy
Tab Curator works entirely on your device.
- No data collection
- No tracking
- No external servers
All tab analysis and search happen locally in your browser.
Stop hoarding. Start curating.
