The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Substack Enhanced Stats
Substack tells you a post got a 31% open rate. It does not tell you whether that is good.
This extension answers one question: did this post reach more actual people than my own recent baseline?
THE ONE NUMBER
Every post is measured against the median of the ten posts published before it. Trailing, so nothing is ever compared against a post that had not gone out yet. Median, so one viral post does not move the bar for the next ten. You get two signed numbers — openers and clickers — and both are counts of people.
WHY NOT OPEN RATE
Open rate falls as a list grows even when the audience is growing. A publication that went from 500 to 2,000 subscribers can watch its open rate slide from 48% to 33% while the number of people actually reading it tripled. Rates hide that. Counts do not.
WHAT YOU SEE
- Last post vs. your own baseline: openers and clickers, in people
- Last 90 days: posts, subscribers, views and signups, each against the 90 days before it
- Your baseline plotted over time, openers and clickers on separate scales
- The six posts that beat their own baseline hardest in the last year
EVERY NUMBER CLOSES BY HAND
"726 openers vs. 662 baseline" sits under "+64". Subtract them yourself. Nothing on screen is a weighted score you cannot check, and there is no invented composite metric anywhere in it.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
- No dashboard, no tabs, no settings page, no onboarding
- No account, no sign-in — it reads the Substack session you already have
- No analytics, no tracking, no third-party requests
- Nothing is written to Substack, ever
MULTIPLE PUBLICATIONS
Every publication you administer appears in one dropdown, including ones on a custom domain. Results are cached locally for six hours; the refresh button forces a re-read.
PRIVACY
Two read-only GET requests to Substack's own API, using the session cookie already in your browser. Results are stored locally so the popup opens instantly. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and there is no server on the other end of this — the extension is the whole product.
