The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Soạn Nôm IME
Soạn Nôm IME lets you type Chữ Nôm (𡨸喃) directly on any webpage using familiar Telex input — or draw characters by hand when you don't know the reading.
Features:
• Type Nôm characters anywhere — input fields, text areas, rich editors, Shadow DOM (Lexical, Slate, Notion-style editors)
• Telex keyboard input with real-time candidate suggestions
• Handwriting input — don't know a character's reading? Draw it. Open the pad from the toolbar popup, or on any webpage field via right-click ("Handwrite Chữ Nôm here") or a keyboard shortcut; an optional pen badge can be enabled on focused fields. The in-page pad is draggable; recognized characters appear in the same candidate bar — pick one and it's inserted right at the cursor (works in inputs, text areas, contentEditable and Shadow DOM editors). Recognition runs on the Nôm Na Việt server, so it needs an internet connection.
• Personalized candidate ranking — frequently picked characters bubble up to the top, learned per reading with 30-day decay (private, stored locally)
• Horizontal candidate bar with expandable grid (like Rime / Google Pinyin)
• Built-in popup composer with copy to clipboard
• Shift + hover any CJK character to see instant dictionary info — readings, meanings, compounds
• Compound word detection — automatically highlights multi-character compounds in surrounding text
• Sticky dictionary popup — stays open after you release Shift so you can read, scroll, and click "View details"; dismissed via Escape, outside-click, or Shift-hover on a different character
• Right-click any text to look up characters on nomnaviet.com, or right-click an editable field to handwrite Chữ Nôm into it
• Bundled rare CJK fonts — Extensions B–I and PUA Nôm characters render on any site, even where the system has no font for them
• Light / dark theme toggle
• Display-font toggle between Tống thể (Songti) and Khải thư (Kaishu)
• Keyboard shortcuts to toggle IME on/off, dictionary lookup on/off, and open handwriting input (assign your own in chrome://extensions/shortcuts)
How to use:
1. Click the extension icon or use the keyboard shortcut to enable IME
2. Start typing in Telex (e.g., "việt" → 越, "nôm" → 喃)
3. Press 1-9 to select a candidate, or use arrow keys to navigate
4. Press ↓ to expand the full candidate grid, ↑ to collapse
5. Don't know the reading? Open handwriting input — from the popup's pen button, by right-clicking an editable field ("Handwrite Chữ Nôm here"), or via the "Toggle handwriting input" shortcut — draw the character, then pick from the candidate bar
6. Hold Shift and hover any Hán Nôm character on a page to see readings, meanings, and compounds — the popup stays open until you press Escape or click outside
7. Right-click selected text on any page to look it up on Nôm Na Việt
8. Click 永 in the popup to switch between Tống thể and Khải thư display fonts
9. Visit chrome://extensions/shortcuts to bind keys for "Toggle Nôm IME", "Toggle Hán Nôm dictionary lookup", and "Toggle handwriting input"
