The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Snippets — local text expander
Type ;addr then space, and your address appears. Set your own shortcuts for anything you type often - an address, an email, a stock reply, a meeting link. Your snippets are stored on your own machine and are never synced or uploaded.
WORKS IN GMAIL COMPOSE
The commonest complaint about text expanders is that they stop working in exactly the place you most wanted them: the compose box. Those boxes are not ordinary text fields, and an expander that only understands ordinary text fields silently does nothing.
This one edits the text where your cursor actually is, rather than assuming a plain input. So it works in ordinary text boxes and text areas, and in rich editors that use contenteditable - which includes Gmail's compose window. That is tested against the shipped build in a real browser, not against a mock of one.
WHERE IT STILL WILL NOT WORK
Editors that keep their document in JavaScript rather than in the page. Notion is the clearest example. There it does nothing at all rather than half-writing your snippet, and we would rather say so here than have you find out after installing.

WHAT IT ASKS FOR, STATED PLAINLY
Two things, and Chrome will show you both. One API permission: storage, to keep your own snippets on this device. And a content script that runs on every site - because a snippet you can only use on some pages is not much use, and there is no way to ask for "wherever you happen to be typing".
What that access is NOT used for: this extension has no server and contains no network code in the part that watches your typing. That is enforced by an automated test, so the build fails if anyone ever adds one. No analytics, no tracking, no account.
It also refuses to touch password fields, one-time-code and card-number fields, and any box inside a login form. Every one of those refusals is a test against the shipped build.
JUST INSTALLED?
Refresh any tabs you already had open. Chrome only adds an extension to pages as they load. New tabs work straight away.
