SmoothSign does the opposite — everything is free, everything works, and nothing is locked behind a plan. It was built out of frustration with exactly that experience. Simple tasks like adding a signature or a date to a PDF should not require a monthly subscription. SmoothSign is the tool that should have existed already. --- What you can do ✍️ Sign your documents Draw your signature freehand using your mouse or trackpad, or type it in cursive script. Save up to 3 signatures to your personal library and reuse them across any PDF with a single click. Drag to reposition, drag the corner to resize. 🔤 Add initials Create and save up to 3 sets of initials in your choice of font — Georgia, Arial, or Courier. Place them anywhere on the document just like a full signature. 📝 Add text anywhere Place text overlays in three font styles — sans-serif, serif, or monospace. Choose your font size, change the color, drag to move, and double-click to edit. Copy and paste text boxes with Cmd+C / Cmd+V. Perfect for filling in form fields, adding names, addresses, reference numbers, or any other information. 📅 Date stamps Stamp today's date instantly with one click, or pick a specific date from a calendar. Dates are placed as editable text overlays so you can reposition them anywhere. 🖊️ Highlight Draw highlight rectangles over any part of your document by clicking and dragging. Change the highlight color using the built-in color picker. Highlights are embedded into the downloaded PDF. ✓ Marks & symbols Place checkmarks, X marks, dots, circles, stars, arrows, and more anywhere on your document. Choose from a symbol picker and click to place. Great for filling out checklists and forms. 🖨️ Print Print your signed document directly from the browser with a single click. Your PDFs are never uploaded to any server — they are processed locally on your device. Your saved signatures and initials are stored only in your browser using Chrome's local storage.
