The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Smart Download Renamer
Smart Download Renamer helps you understand what a downloaded file is, where it came from, what it was named, and where Chrome saved it.
When a download begins, the extension uses metadata already provided by Chrome to identify the source and document type, then suggests a clear filename using your selected template. After completion, the popup shows the final filename, original filename, source, file type, size, and saved folder. You can open a completed file or reveal it in its folder with one click.
Main features:
- Automatic filename suggestions for new downloads
- Source detection from the download domain
- Classification for invoices, receipts, certificates, reports, archives, images, and more
- Custom filename templates and date formats
- Website-specific source names and preferred document types
- Protection for executable and application downloads
- Local rename history with search and JSON export
- Open file and Show in folder actions for completed downloads
- Light and dark themes
- English and Turkish interface support
Privacy comes first. Download metadata, filenames, URLs, paths, settings, rules, and history are processed locally in Chrome and are not transmitted to the developer or third parties. The extension does not read downloaded file contents, requires no account, and includes no analytics, advertising, trackers, or cloud service.
Smart Download Renamer is free. A voluntary Patreon link is available for users who want to support continued development, but it does not unlock features and is never required.
