About skylight | pop-out fullscreen window controls
skylight changes what the fullscreen button does. Press it on YouTube, or any site that uses the browser's fullscreen, and a small menu asks where the video should go:
- Own window (W): the tab moves into a window of its own, so you can watch next to your work. It doesn't reload, so the video keeps playing. The next window opens where you left the last one.
- Float on top (O): the video moves into a small window that stays above every other window, with play, seek, mute and a button back to the tab. Close it and the video goes back where it was, still playing.
- Fill the tab (T): the player takes over the tab, in the site's own fullscreen layout.
- Picture in picture (P): the browser's floating video, when the site has a video element.
- Fullscreen (F): real fullscreen, as usual.
Press Esc, or the site's own exit button, to put everything back where it was.
In the toolbar: switch skylight off for a site, or pick a default (window or tab) and skip the menu. Hold Alt (Option on Mac) as you press fullscreen to see the menu anyway.
