About Skip Ready Auto
Skip Ready Auto handles the native Skip button on desktop YouTube videos. Auto Skip is on by default on a fresh installation: open a YouTube watch page and the helper connects automatically. No Start action is needed. The helper continues automatically when you move between videos, including from the YouTube home page. Keep the video tab selected in its Chrome window.
It waits for YouTube to make a supported native Skip button available, then asks Chrome to click it only when it is visible, enabled and uncovered during an ad. Some ads take longer than five seconds or do not offer Skip. The helper does not shorten countdowns, block advertisements or use private player skip functions.
You stay in control
- Turn Auto Skip off in the popup to disconnect all sessions. Your on/off choice is saved locally on this device and is not synced.
- Switching to another tab in the same window pauses eligible clicks for the video. Returning permits eligible operation. Page visibility still matters; another application's focus is not itself a requirement.
- Cancel Chrome's debugging banner to disconnect the current tab. A cancelled or failed connection does not create a repeated reconnect loop for that document. Close conflicting DevTools and deliberately turn the setting off/on or open a new document to retry.
- If the saved setting cannot be read or saved, automatic operation stays off and the popup explains the problem.
Permission disclosure
The debugger permission is broad and can read and change page content. This implementation automatically attaches only to selected supported HTTPS www.youtube.com/watch tabs while Auto Skip is on. It uses fixed locally packaged native-control checks and Chrome browser mouse input. Chrome shows a debugging banner while attached. Storage permission saves the single on/off preference and bounded temporary cancellation/error routing information.
Status and privacy
The popup shows state and browser click attempts. Attempts are not confirmed skips. Copy status provides a fixed local report of flags and bounded counts; you choose whether to share it. URLs, video titles, identifiers, coordinates, HTML and arbitrary page text are excluded from that report. The extension has no analytics, extension server, viewing-history database or remote extension code. Native-control checks, tab routing, browser navigation state and the current rendered video identifier are processed locally.
Optional support
An optional Ko-fi link opens only if you click it. Supporting the project is voluntary and is not required for skipping. Ko-fi and its payment providers have their own privacy and payment terms and may collect browser/transaction information and share supporter details with the creator.
Compatibility
Desktop Chrome 118 or later; top-level HTTPS www.youtube.com/watch pages and supported native Skip controls. Embedded players, Shorts, mobile pages, other sites and ads without an available native Skip button are outside scope. YouTube changes or browser policies can affect compatibility.
