About SecretGo — Hide Tabs Panic Button & Stealth mode, hide tabs with no trace

# SecretGo — Hide Tabs Panic Button & Private Incognito Tab Manager > **Hide private tabs instantly. Reveal them instantly. Leave no trace.** > SecretGo is a **private tab manager** and **panic button** for Chrome that lets you **hide tabs** with one keystroke, **password-protect** them, run them in a **real incognito pool**, and **save/restore encrypted sessions** — built for anyone who shares a screen, a desk, or a browser profile and needs a fast, reliable way to keep some tabs truly private. *This extension answers: hide tabs shortcut · hide browser tabs shortcut · panic button for browser · private tab manager · incognito tab manager · incognito manager · password protect tabs · stealth mode Chrome · hide tabs no trace · quick hide tabs hotkey.* --- ### 🛑 Ever needed to hide a tab *right now*? - **The Shoulder-Surf Moment:** A coworker walks up, someone glances at your screen, or you're screen-sharing — and a private tab is sitting right there in plain sight. - **The "Private" Window That Isn't Convenient:** Chrome's own Incognito mode is a whole separate window you have to juggle, with no quick way to stash an *existing* tab into it. - **No Panic Button:** Most tab managers have zero concept of "hide everything sensitive, right now, with one keystroke." ### ✨ SecretGo is the panic button your browser never had. SecretGo gives every sensitive tab a hidden home — the **secret pool**, a forcibly-hidden window that holds your private tabs until you need them again — all driven by a single, configurable hotkey. --- ## 🚀 Key Features ### ⚡ One-Key Panic Hide Press your trigger key (default **`Alt+X`**) to show or hide the secret popup. Press it **twice quickly** to instantly sweep every open secret tab into the hidden pool — no popup needed, no mouse required. This is the panic button: one reflex, tabs gone. ### 🕵️ Real Incognito, or a Zero-Setup Fallback - **Incognito-backed pool (recommended):** once you grant "Allow in Incognito," the pool runs as a genuine incognito window — cookies/cache/localStorage for hidden tabs are wiped the moment the session ends, closed tabs never appear in "Recently Closed," and the pool is immune to Chrome's own session-restore. - **Works immediately without any setup:** no incognito access yet? SecretGo automatically falls back to a normal hidden window with the same stealth treatment (minimized, off-screen, unnamed/grey group) so you're never blocked from using it. - **Toggle any time:** switch between incognito and standard-window mode right from the dialog's menu, no reinstall — existing hidden tabs are moved into the new mode's window (a one-time reload for each, since Chrome refuses to move a tab directly between an incognito and a normal window). Day-to-day showing/hiding a secret tab never reloads it: the dialog only ever exchanges tabs with the pool of its own mode, and if you open it from a window in the "wrong" mode, SecretGo asks to switch (or redirects you to a matching window) instead of crossing that boundary silently. ### 🔒 Password-Protected Tabs - **Per-tab password lock** — require a password before a specific secret tab can be revealed outside the pool. - **Common password** — set one default password that protects every tab without its own lock. - **Password hints** — store an optional hint for yourself; the password itself is never stored in plaintext (salted hash only). ### 🧹 No Trace Left Behind Every time a secret tab is moved into the pool or closed, its entry is scrubbed from browser history. Optional **Aggressive Scrub** (on by default) mirrors how a real incognito window's own storage behaves: closing one secret tab doesn't clear anything by itself, but once *every* secret tab is gone (pool, checked out, or link-opened) the pool window closes and cookies/cache/localStorage for whatever sites secretGo touched that session get cleared — skipping any site still open in some unrelated tab, and never touching older history for that site from outside secretGo. This applies whenever a tab wasn't itself incognito at some point during its life, which covers both fallback (normal-window) pool mode and any incognito-pool tab that was checked out into (or swept back from) a normal window — a tab that stayed incognito its whole life needs no scrub, since Chrome already destroys its storage with its window. Grant its one optional permission from a single Settings-page click when prompted. ### 💾 Encrypted Session Save/Restore Save your whole secret-tab set and restore it later — URLs and titles are AES-GCM encrypted at rest. Keep sessions local-only (default) or opt into syncing the encrypted blob across your signed-in devices. ### ⌨️ Fast, Keyboard-First Navigation - **Hint codes** — every visible tab gets a short letter code; type it to jump, `Shift`+code to switch it into your current window instantly. - **Fuzzy search** — type a few letters to filter your hidden tabs by title or URL. - **Type a URL, hit Enter** — opens it right in your current window; if a secret tab is already open elsewhere, it's swept into the pool first automatically. - **Context chords** — press `Space` then a letter for quick actions (open, close, lock a tab, set a password) without leaving the keyboard. --- ## 🎮 How to Trigger SecretGo - **Show/Hide Popup:** Press `Alt+X` (default, fully customizable) anywhere. - **Panic Hide All:** Double-press `Alt+X` — sweeps every secret tab into the hidden pool instantly, popup or no popup. - **Toolbar Icon:** Click the SecretGo icon for quick access to Settings or to open the tab list. *(Every trigger key is customizable in Settings.)* --- ## 🛠️ Why choose SecretGo? - **Truly Hidden, Not Just Minimized:** The secret pool window is minimized, positioned off-screen, and its tab group is forced collapsed — designed to stay out of sight even if someone glances at your taskbar. - **No Setup Required to Start:** Works out of the box in fallback mode; upgrade to incognito-backed privacy whenever you're ready, w…
