About Second Read: Save Highlights, Read Again & Remember (Kindle Sync)
You save things you never read again. Second Read puts one of them on every new tab, so it actually sticks.
You read a lot. Articles, books, lectures, threads. You highlight the good parts, take screenshots, save links to read later. Then they sit in an app you stopped opening. The saving was never the problem. The coming back is.
Second Read is a free Chrome extension that does two things. It saves any text on your screen, and it gives it back to you on your new tab, where you already look many times a day. No new habit to build. You already have one.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Catch it. Select text on any page, or drag a box around anything you see: a slide, a video frame, a scanned PDF, an image, a screenshot. Press Cmd+Shift+S (Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows). Text you cannot select becomes text you can, read right on your computer (OCR, image to text).
2. Forget it. Close the tab. That is the instruction.
3. Meet it again. Every new tab shows one passage you saved, the one you have gone longest without seeing. Read it again and again, so it actually sticks.

REMEMBER WHAT YOU READ
Reading once is not learning. Ideas stay in your mind when you meet them again. Second Read turns your new tab into a quiet review of your own best reading: book notes, Kindle highlights, quotes, lecture slides, article highlights. A simple way to keep learning from what you already read.
A READWISE AND POCKET ALTERNATIVE
Readwise, Pocket, Instapaper, a notes app, a folder of screenshots. They all hold what you saved. Second Read is built for the other half: bringing it back in front of you. Bring your Readwise CSV or connect Kindle and your old highlights start showing up on your new tab.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Nothing you capture leaves your computer. When you capture a region, the image is read inside your browser and then thrown away. It is never uploaded. Your saves stay on your device, so capture works offline and the new tab loads instantly. Sync and digests are opt-in. Kindle sync runs in your own browser, and we never see your Amazon password. A Readwise file is read by your browser, not uploaded.
Free. No paid tier.
Everything you save, read again.
