Remy in Chrome pairs your browser with Remy, an AI coding agent running
locally on your machine (desktop app or CLI) — it does not connect to
any remote server on its own.
Once paired, Remy can read page content, take screenshots, and interact
with tabs in this browser (the one you're already signed in to) when you
ask it to — for example, to look something up, test a page you're
building, or debug an issue together with you.
Privacy and consent by design:
- Nothing happens until you explicitly click "Connect" on the pairing
page. You can disconnect at any time from the extension's options.
- Remy always shows an on-page indicator while it is actively driving a
tab, so it's never silent about what it's doing.
- The extension talks only to a local companion process on your machine
via Chrome's Native Messaging API — page content and screenshots are
not sent anywhere else by the extension itself.
Remy in Chrome requires the separate Remy desktop app or CLI to be
installed and running locally; the extension has no functionality on
its own without it.
