About Red News – Economic Calendar for TradingView
Built for traders who plan around the news. Economic releases drive most intraday volatility, and Red News plots every scheduled Forex Factory event straight onto your TradingView chart. It works as a Forex Factory calendar overlay, which keeps you off a second screen and out of a separate calendar tab.
Each release gets a vertical line at its exact time, colored by impact, so you can see what is coming and, with Premium, get an alert before it lands. The gap between the Actual result and the Forecast is what moves price, and Red News shows Actual, Forecast, and Previous the moment you hover.
⭐ HIGHLIGHTS
• An economic calendar indicator on your chart: events drawn as clean vertical lines
• Color-coded impact levels: High, Medium, Low, Holiday
• Alerts before a release (Premium): on-chart toast, desktop notification, and sound
• Actual, Forecast, and Previous in a hover tooltip
• A countdown to the next red-folder release on the extension icon
• Filter by key events (NFP, CPI, FOMC) or whole categories
• AI explanations of any release, in your language, with your own API key (Premium)
• Works on every pane of a multi-chart layout
• 22 interface languages
• Free core features, no account needed
🔔 ALERTS BEFORE THE NEWS (PREMIUM)
• Up to three reminders per release, for example 15 minutes and 1 minute before
• Pick the alert sound from a built-in library: chimes, bells, melodies, voices, alarms
• Set how long it repeats: once, 10, 20, 40, or 60 seconds
• The sound plays even while you work in another browser tab
• Pre-news notifications: an optional desktop alert and an on-chart toast
• Telegram alerts: the same heads-up on your phone, even with the browser closed
• On the free tier you can still browse the sound library and preview every tone
🎯 NEWS LINES ON YOUR CHART
• A vertical line marks the exact time of each event
• Label options: none, short ("News"), or the full headline
• Set line color and width for each impact level
• Adjustable label position and font size
• Lines follow your chart timezone, or one you pick
🧭 FILTERS & TIME WINDOW
• Show only the currencies you trade, detected from the chart symbol or set by hand
• Filter by impact: High, Medium, Low, Holiday
• Key events and categories: keep only NFP, CPI, or FOMC, or whole groups — jobs, inflation, central banks, growth, speeches
• Control the window: how far back, around now, and how far ahead
• A built-in list of upcoming events, plus custom date ranges (extended history and future events with Premium)
⏱ ALWAYS KNOW WHAT'S NEXT
• The extension icon counts down to the next red-folder release for your currencies, even while you browse other sites
• A one-line overview at the top of the list: how many red releases are due today and when the next one lands
• Click the overview to jump straight to that release in the list
✨ AI EXPLANATIONS (PREMIUM, YOUR OWN API KEY)
• Press ✨ next to any event for a plain-language briefing: what the indicator measures, what the numbers say, and what a beat or a miss usually means for that currency
• Connect your own AI provider — Google Gemini, Groq, or OpenRouter — with a free API key; there is nothing extra to buy from us
• Your key stays in your browser and requests go straight to the provider, so Red News never sees them
• Answers arrive in your interface language. Step-by-step setup: https://rednews.app/ai
📊 EVENTS IT COVERS
Every scheduled release on the Forex Factory economic calendar:
• Jobs and inflation reports such as Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) and CPI
• Growth and activity data like GDP and PMI
• Central bank rate decisions and speeches (the Fed, ECB, and others)
• Bank holidays that thin out liquidity
Each event is graded high, medium, or low impact, so the releases that move price stand out at a glance.
👤 WHO IT'S FOR
Day traders, scalpers, and swing traders who trade the news or want to stay out of its way:
• Forex: see the releases that move major pairs like EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDJPY
• Gold and metals: track the news behind XAUUSD moves
• Indices: anticipate high-impact events for US30, Nasdaq, and more
• Crypto: read the macro backdrop behind BTCUSD right on the chart
Red News keeps the next market-moving event in view so a surprise release does not catch you mid-position.
🛠 HOW TO USE IT
Open Red News from the toolbar. News lines appear on your chart right away, and everything below is optional tuning in Settings.
• See only the red-folder events: in the impact filter, keep High on and switch Medium, Low, and Holiday off.
• Watch only the big three: under Key events, tick NFP, CPI, and FOMC, and the chart, the list, and your alerts keep just those.
• Match your instrument: the currency filter follows your chart symbol automatically, or switch to manual and pick the currencies yourself.
• Focus on what is close: turn off History and Future, and the chart shows only the events around now.
• Start your day informed: before you read the chart, open the list and check Today, or Week to look further ahead.
• Trade intraday with a heads-up (Premium): set one reminder 15 minutes and another 1 minute before each release, turn on sound and desktop notifications, and a print never catches you mid-trade.
• Prop-firm and funded traders: with High impact on and a Premium alert set, you can manage event risk and know exactly when to flatten or stand aside before news hits.
💡 GOOD TO KNOW
• The calendar refreshes on its own about every half hour, so you rarely need the refresh button. Use it only when you want the latest right now.
• Just installed, or switched symbols? Data can take a moment to arrive. If lines do not show up, wait a few seconds, then scroll or zoom the chart to trigger a redraw.
• Still nothing on the chart? Make sure you are on a TradingView chart page, then check that your filters are not hiding everything and that your time window reaches the dates you are viewing.
• Trade earnings, or need another data source? Tell us what you follow and we will look into add…
