The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About ReadLater Pro - Save Pages to an Offline Reader View
Ever find a great article at the worst possible time? ReadLater Pro saves it in one click so you can come back when you're ready, even without an internet connection. Your reading list stays in your browser, private and under your control.
There's no account and no sign-up. ReadLater is free to use, and an optional Pro plan removes three limits: full-text search, Listen and Markdown export.
NEW IN 1.3
Highlights and notes, Listen mode, reading inside the side panel, and new ways to bring your library in and take it with you.
KEY FEATURES
- One-click save for offline reading. Save any page from the toolbar button, the right-click menu or a keyboard shortcut. Saved articles keep their text on your device, so you can read on a flight, in the subway or anywhere without Wi-Fi. (A page the reader can't extract is saved as its title and link. Saving it again later from the page adds the text. The side panel's Save button keeps the text when ReadLater can read the page, and otherwise saves the link.)
- A reader you can make your own. Reader view strips ads, sidebars and pop-ups and remembers how far you got. Pick a serif, sans, extra-readable or monospace font, set the text size, line spacing and page width, and choose light, sepia, dark or Auto, which follows your computer's dark mode.
- Highlights and notes. Select text in reader view to highlight it in four colors and add notes. Every highlight is listed in the side panel, where you can search them and jump straight back to the spot.
- Listen. Reader view can read your saved articles aloud with a voice installed on your computer, so it works offline, at the speed you choose, marking each paragraph as it goes. Chrome's online voices are in the list too, marked online. Free for 3 articles a day; Pro makes it unlimited.
- A side panel that keeps your list beside the page. Search it, filter by tag, by Unread or by quick and long reads, read articles right inside the panel, save the page you're on or the tabs in a window (as links unless ReadLater can read the page), and let Rediscover pick something you saved a while ago.
- Search. Search titles, sites and excerpts as often as you like. Searches of two or more words also read inside every saved article 20 times a day, and Pro removes that limit and works for single words too.
- Bring your library, take it anywhere. Import the export file from a read-it-later service such as Pocket or Omnivore. Tags, archive status and highlights come along when the file includes them, and so does the full article text. You can also import any browser's bookmarks file or a plain list of links. Export a full backup with tags and highlights, a spreadsheet file or a bookmarks file at any time, free. Markdown export of articles and highlights is part of Pro, with one free try.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Click the ReadLater Pro icon in your toolbar, or right-click any page and choose Save Page to ReadLater.
2. Open your reading list in the side panel to browse, search, filter and tidy up what you've saved.
3. Click any article to read it in reader view, highlight what matters, or press Listen.
WHO IT'S FOR
Researchers juggling dozens of tabs, people who collect articles through the working day, students building a study library, and anyone who wants a simple, private home for the articles they save.
PRIVACY
Your articles, highlights, searches and reading stats stay in your browser. There are no ads and no third-party analytics. Listen uses a voice installed on your computer unless you pick one marked online, so by default the text it reads never leaves your device. Pro confirms your license key with Zovo's server from time to time, sending only the key and the extension's name. If you uninstall, Chrome opens a zovo.one page whose address carries the version, how long it was installed, its update count and the extension's ID. Pictures load from the sites that published them.
PERMISSIONS
Active tab and scripting capture the article you choose to save. Tabs opens your saved pages and lets you save the tabs in a window as links. Storage and unlimited storage keep your whole library and your highlights on your device, however many articles you collect over the years. Side panel shows your list and the reader next to the page, and context menus add right-click saving. Alarms run the daily limit resets and the weekly recap, and notifications deliver the optional milestone and recap messages, which you can switch off in Settings. Favicon shows each site's icon in your list. Optional access to all sites is asked for only when you choose Get the full text for articles you imported or saved as links. ReadLater then downloads each of those pages from its own site and keeps the readable text on your device; nothing is sent to Zovo. You can say no, and you can remove the access at any time.
UPDATES
After some feature updates, ReadLater Pro opens a short What's new page in a background tab. You can turn this off in Settings under Notifications.
Save now and read later, on your terms.
