About Quire Markdown — Viewer
Give Markdown room to read.
Quire Markdown is a focused viewer for README files, technical notes and coding-agent plans. Open a local file, drop one into the viewer, or paste Markdown. Your original file stays unchanged.
Read and navigate
• Jump through a heading outline and find text in the document.
• Switch between a rendered page, the original Markdown source and a split view.
• Render tables, task lists, strikethrough and safe inline HTML.
• Read fenced code with bundled syntax highlighting for common languages, and copy code with one click.
• Choose a light, dark or system theme.
Follow a local file
Choose a file with Open file to enable Refresh or Follow file. Follow checks for changes while the viewer tab is visible, so you can read alongside your text editor or coding agent. File access lasts for that viewer session; dropped files and recent copies are snapshots.
Keep a readable copy
Print the rendered page or download an HTML copy. Up to ten recent documents are saved in this browser profile and can be removed individually.
Local processing
No account, analytics, advertisements or document upload to the developer. Local text, filenames and recent-document information stay in your browser. Images become blocked text references rather than making background requests.
You can also explicitly open a raw HTTP or HTTPS Markdown link. Quire asks for access to that origin, retrieves the file without cookies or a referrer, and rejects redirects. Download login-protected or redirecting files normally, then open the local copy.
Clear limits
Quire Markdown is a viewer, not an editor. It accepts UTF-8 text documents up to 2 MB. It does not overwrite originals, execute document scripts, load document images or embedded resources, render diagrams or math, or automatically replace every website. Unknown languages and large code blocks remain readable plain text. Local recent copies are a convenience, not a backup service.
