About Quell — Block AI Overviews, Gemini & Cookie Popups

Quell removes the noise you didn't ask for — and never the things you did. ★ GOOGLE — hide AI Overviews and AI Mode, or switch to Classic results for Google's plain list of links (zero AI, and it doesn't rely on page markup). Works on all 190 Google country domains. Separate switches per surface, so you decide what goes. ★ NEVER HIDES A REAL RESULT — every search engine Quell handles has a guard that keeps organic results out of reach, and every release is tested against it. Search for "Copilot" or "Gemini" and the real results are still there. ★ ANSWERS YOU OPEN STAY — Google builds "People also ask" answers with the same AI as the Overview above your results. Most blockers hide both. Quell tells them apart: the overview you didn't ask for goes, the answer you clicked open stays. Turn that off too if you'd rather. ★ BING — hides the Copilot panel, its buttons, and the Copilot suggestion chips, with one switch. ★ DUCKDUCKGO, BRAVE & YAHOO (opt-in) — switch these on and your browser asks once for access to those three sites; nothing else. Quell then hides their AI answers, or — on DuckDuckGo and Brave — uses the engines' OWN setting for turning AI off. If you've already set that switch yourself, Quell leaves your choice alone. ★ COOKIE BANNERS (beta, opt-in) — blocks the major consent platforms at the network layer and hides banners using the full EasyList Cookie List, rebuilt weekly. Optionally says "reject all" for you on consent platforms it recognises — and checks the platform's own saved choice first, so a choice you already made is left alone. To do that it lets the consent platform load (hide-only mode keeps it blocked), so it can record your "no". ★ POP-UPS (opt-in) — newsletter sign-up boxes, chat bubbles and "open in app" banners, each with its own switch. Hides only — never blocks page content. ★ THIS SITE — one card for the site you're on: keep AI here, allow cookie banners here, allow pop-ups here, or tell us "this site looks broken" in one click. WHY QUELL? • Free forever. No account, no paywall, no "pro" upsell on the blocking core. • Private. No analytics, no telemetry. Your settings sync through your own browser account like bookmarks do — never to us. The only thing Quell ever sends us is a "this site looks broken" report you choose to send: the site's domain and Quell's version, shown to you before it goes. • Asks before AI comes back — switching an AI surface back on needs a confirmation, so a stray click doesn't undo your choice. • Honest. Quell doesn't claim to "delete your data from AI servers" — no browser tool can. It quiets what you see, in your browser. • Open source (MIT). • Quell ships with access to Google and Bing search only. DuckDuckGo, Brave and Yahoo are asked for one click at a time, and the all-sites permission is requested only if you turn on cookie banners or pop-ups — and handed back the moment you turn both off. Revoke any of it whenever you like, from your browser's extensions page. For ads, use uBlock Origin — it's the better tool for that job. Quell focuses on what it does best: AI features and web nags.
