The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About QR Code Detector
QR Code Detector reads the square already on your screen and builds codes from text. Click the toolbar icon to capture the visible tab and read the mark as text. The decoded result is ready to copy.
What you can scan
1. Current tab: the extension captures the visible page when the popup opens, so you do not hunt for a button.
2. Image: paste a picture with Ctrl or Cmd+V, drop files or a PDF, or choose them. Scan one file or several.
3. Camera: read a printed square through a live camera preview.
4. Screen: scan another window or a second display, even outside Chrome.
5. History: the extension keeps recent decoded text on this device, and the Clear control removes it.
What the reader can recover
- Rotated, tilted, mirrored or inverted marks, so white on black reads like black on white.
- Low-contrast marks and dense patterns with hundreds of modules.
- Blurry phone shots, glare and photographs of a monitor.
A ZXing pass runs first, a jsQR fallback follows, and another attempt with different settings catches what the first pass misses.
The same toolbar includes a generator
The generator builds a code from text, a link, contact details, a Wi-Fi profile, an email draft, a phone number or an SMS draft. Choose error correction and save a PNG or SVG. Copy the PNG to the clipboard where the browser allows it, then check what the scanner will decode.
A scanned page or a picture remains a detector input. The generator starts from typed or extracted text only. For batch generation, use text or supported document files as the input.
Print one square per A4 or Letter page, or set a compact grid. Add a caption and a clear border, then print or choose Save as PDF. Check paper size and use 100% scale.
Optional payment profiles arrange recipient details for a code. Check the recipient, amount and currency in the scanning app.
💡 A square holds a fixed number of bytes. Longer content makes a denser pattern, so print it large and test it with the scanner you plan to use. Import limits and a validation message appear before generation starts.
📌 A boarding pass in a PDF tab, a payment square on an invoice or a Wi-Fi sticker across the room: scan it, or use the toolbar to build a square in seconds.
Short answers
Q: Does the generator accept a scanned PDF or a photo as input?
A: No. That stays a detector input; the generator turns typed or extracted text into a mark.
Q: Can several marks on one page be read at once?
A: Yes. Every mark found lands on its own line with its own Copy control.
Q: Does printing add a mark to a ZIP file automatically?
A: No. Print and ZIP export stay separate actions.
Q: Is the PayNow profile a certified bank format?
A: No. It is experimental and formats data only, so check the recipient inside the banking app.
