The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About ProofSnap - Digital Evidence Capture
Prove what a website said, even after it is edited or deleted. One click, 41 seconds, one signed ZIP that a court, a lawyer, or an IT expert can check without installing this extension.
A plain screenshot can be edited in seconds with browser developer tools, and courts know it. In United States v. Vayner, a federal court rejected a social network screenshot because nobody could authenticate it. ProofSnap captures the same page and documents it: SHA-256 hashes of every file, an RSA-4096 signature, verified time, and a full ISO/IEC 27037 chain of custody.
How it works
Open the side panel and click. The tab reloads so that the server response is captured firsthand. The extension then saves a full-page image, the HTML, the readable text, and the technical metadata. It hashes every file, signs the manifest, and anchors the result in time. Pages that load content while you scroll, such as chat and feed-style apps, are saved section by section, so the whole conversation or timeline is included.
What you get in one ZIP
- Full-page or visible-area image, complete HTML, and readable text
- Forensic metadata: URL, times, TLS certificate, DNS records, HTTP response headers
- Signed SHA-256 manifest, public key, and tamper-evident forensic log
- Chain-of-custody record and a readable evidence report as a PDF
- Provenance certificate with eight independent checks confirming that the capture came from a live browser on a real device
- Rule 902 declaration for US filings, with every technical fact already entered and the declarant block left blank for you (Professional and above)
Trusted time
NTP-verified time on every plan. A Bitcoin blockchain timestamp on Professional and above. An EU qualified electronic timestamp on Enterprise and Company plans, issued by Disig a.s., a Qualified Trust Service Provider on the EU Trusted List.
More than screenshots
- Video: run the recorder automatically during a capture, start it by hand while media plays, or let it cover a whole multi-tab session
- Session mode: every tab you visit gets its own forensic folder inside a single package
- File certification: hash, sign, and timestamp documents you already have. They never leave your device; only hashes are sent
- AI image analysis: reads C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC and XMP provenance fields, and generator metadata, all on your device
- Custom branding on the evidence report for law firms and agencies (Enterprise and Company)
Who uses it
Lawyers and in-house legal teams, investigators and journalists, compliance and HR staff, and anyone who needs to show what a site said at a given moment.
Check it without us
Anyone can open a package in the free Trust Verifier at getproofsnap.com/verify/index.html, inside the extension, or with the open-source command-line tool at github.com/proofsnap/proofsnap-verify (MIT license). Every package also ships with scripts for Windows, macOS, and Linux, so it can still be checked if we ever disappear.
Plans
Essential: the full package and forensic documentation, from $8.99 per month.
Professional: adds a Bitcoin blockchain anchor.

All subscriptions start with a 7-day trial and require a credit card. If you prefer to pay per use, SnapPack gives you 10 captures for $4.99 with no subscription, eIDAS SnapPack adds EU qualified timestamps from $6.99, and Video SnapPack adds long-form video with audio from $24.99.
Legal background
Built around US Federal Rules of Evidence 901 and 902(13) to (14), EU Regulation 910/2014 (eIDAS), and ISO/IEC 27037:2012 on the handling of digital evidence. Admissibility is always decided by the court. ProofSnap gives you the documentation needed to support admissibility.
