The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Pixtape
PixTape records your screen, a window, or a browser tab and saves the result straight to your Downloads folder as a .webm file.
Everything happens on your machine. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account, no server, and no tracking.
What it's for
• Capturing a quick bug repro to send to someone
• Recording a walkthrough or demo of something on screen
• Saving a short clip of a call, stream, or presentation
• Any case where a cloud recorder is more tool than you need, or where the content shouldn't leave your machine in the first place
How to use it
• Click the Pixtape icon
• Hit "Start recording" and choose a screen, window, or tab
• Hit "Stop" in the popup, or use Chrome's own "Stop sharing" bar
• The file downloads automatically when recording ends.
Audio is captured when available. Chrome offers it for tabs and for full-screen capture on Windows, but not for individual windows, tick "Share audio" in the picker when the option appears.
