About Openize Temporal Search
Openize Temporal Search adds precise time-based filtering to YouTube search results.
Instead of relying only on YouTube’s built-in filters, you can keep your normal search terms and add a hard date filter on top of them. This makes it easier to explore what was being uploaded during a specific moment in time.
You can filter results by:
- Exact upload date
- Before a selected date
- After a selected date
- Custom date range
The extension is designed around the idea of temporal search: not just what something is about, but when it entered the network.
This first version focuses on YouTube upload/publish dates. It filters the results currently loaded by YouTube and hides results that fall outside the selected time window.
Openize Temporal Search is useful for historical research, media archaeology, cultural analysis, archival exploration, trend research, and comparing how topics appeared online before or after major events.
Current version:
YouTube Network Time filtering
Planned expansion:
Artifact Time filtering, which will distinguish between when something was uploaded and when the underlying footage, photograph, recording, or media artifact originally comes from.
Privacy:
Openize Temporal Search does not collect or sell personal data. Date-filter preferences are stored locally in Chrome, and filtering is performed in the browser.
