The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About OnOffTube – YouTube Focus, Block Shorts
Have you ever installed a YouTube blocker,
only to remove it a few days later?
That makes sense.
If you use YouTube for work, learning, research, or creating content,
blocking the entire site quickly becomes frustrating.
You turn the blocker off because you need one useful video.
Then a few days later,
you open YouTube for work and somehow end up watching Shorts and recommendations again.
OnOffTube doesn't block YouTube.
It lets you keep the videos you actually need while reducing the parts of YouTube that make it easy to drift into unintended browsing — including homepage recommendations, Shorts, related videos, and comments.
🙋🏻♂️OnOffTube is for you if:
- You work independently as a freelancer, founder, developer, or creator
- You need YouTube for work or learning and can't simply block it
- You often open one useful video and end up watching recommendations or Shorts
- You want to use YouTube more intentionally instead of quitting it completely
📌 How it works
■ Work Mode
Reduce distracting elements such as homepage recommendations, Shorts, related videos, and comments.
You can still search for and watch the videos you intentionally came to YouTube for.
■ Free Mode
When you want a break, use YouTube freely for 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
Instead of blocking YouTube all day, you choose when to browse freely and when to return to a focused environment.
■ Block distracting channels
Block channels you repeatedly open when you're supposed to be working.
You can also keep channels you actually need for work, study, or research available.
■ Review your recent usage
See your recent YouTube usage and Free Mode activity to better understand how intentionally you're using YouTube.
You don't have to quit YouTube.
Keep the videos you need.
Reduce the distractions around them.
✅ Most core features are available for free.
Free users can block up to 5 channels.
