The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About OneImage Squoosh
OneImage Squoosh is a privacy‑first image compressor that runs entirely in your browser. Drag and drop, paste, or select images to compress them to JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF with smart presets for quality and size. All processing happens locally via WebAssembly — your images never leave your device.
Batch compress multiple files, pick a target format (or Auto), preview sizes and savings, and download single files or everything at once. Perfect for developers, designers, marketers, and anyone who needs smaller, high‑quality images fast.
- Key Features
- Local, offline compression — no uploads, no accounts.
- Modern formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF.
- Presets for High quality, Balanced, and Smallest size.
- Auto‑detect original format, or pick a target format.
- Paste from clipboard, drag & drop, or file picker.
- Batch processing with progress and per‑file status.
- One‑click download per file or Download All.
- Clean, keyboard‑friendly popup UI.
- How It Works
- The extension uses efficient WebAssembly codecs (mozjpeg, WebP, AVIF, and quantization for PNG) in a dedicated worker. Images are decoded to an in‑memory bitmap, encoded according to your preset and format, and written back to a downloadable file — all within your browser.
- Privacy & Permissions
- Data collection: none. Images never leave your device and are not sent to any server.
- Permissions requested:
- storage: used to remember your preferences (e.g., last preset/format).
- site access (google.com): a lightweight content script is included by default and does not read or modify page content; it performs no data collection. You can remove site access in Chrome’s extension settings.
