OctoDownloader: The Privacy-First Instagram Downloader Save Instagram photos, videos, Reels, Stories, and full profile archives directly to your computer with zero cloud processing. OctoDownloader is a local-only Instagram downloader built for privacy. Whether you want to save IG Reels, bulk download an Instagram profile, or backup your own grid, your files stay entirely on your device. There are no external accounts, no hidden tracking, and no servers to pass your data through. Note: This extension is for personal copies of media you can already open in your own browser. Open instagram.com and reload the tab (required after install or update). Click the extension icon and choose a save folder once. Later downloads write there automatically without extra "Save As" dialogs. Use the teal OctoDownloader controls on the page, or press the keyboard shortcut. 📸 WHERE THE BUTTONS ARE • Posts & Reels: Click the teal octopus button next to the Save/Bookmark icon to instantly save IG videos and photos. On carousels, it saves every slide. • Feeds & Grids: Hover over any media tile and click the octopus button. • Stories: Look for “Download all in story” in the top bar to bulk save, plus the octopus icon for individual clips. • Full Profiles: Click “Download all posts” and “Download all stories” in the profile header to backup Instagram accounts. Full archives are neatly organized into your-folder/username/. • Keyboard: Ctrl+Shift+D (Windows/ChromeOS) or Command+Shift+D (Mac) while the Instagram tab is focused. ✨ FEATURES • Local-only saving: Nothing is ever uploaded to Netcode. • Seamless workflow: Choose a folder once; Chrome remembers it. • Comprehensive: Download single posts, carousels, Reels, and Stories. • Bulk archiving: Download all posts or all stories from any profile you can currently view. • Smart deduplication: Skip files that already exist when archiving a profile (via Options). • Preview Lens: Browse, grid/list, sort, and regex-search what you saved. • Progress tracking: Toasts let you see exactly when a save finishes. • Cross-browser: Works in Chrome, and the exact same package loads in Edge and Brave. • Recognizes Instagram in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong), Arabic, German, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Turkish. 🛡️ STRICT PRIVACY OctoDownloader does not collect your media, cookies, passwords, or browsing history. It does not use analytics, ads, or crash-reporting SDKs. Your settings and the folder handle stay exclusively in your browser profile. When you save, your browser talks directly to Instagram and its CDNs using the session you already have — never to a Netcode server. You never enter your Instagram password into OctoDownloader. There is no login screen for that. ⚠️ NOTES • Reload every Instagram tab after you install or update, or the buttons will not appear. • Some Stories, Reels, and full profile archives work more reliably when you are signed in to Instagram in that browser. • Private accounts you cannot open cannot be downloaded. That is intentional. • If Brave Shields blocks a save, lower Shields on instagram.com, then try again. • This is a personal backup tool. Respect the original creator and Instagram’s terms.
