The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Ocrette – Copy Text from Image (Offline OCR)
Ocrette copies the text of any area of your screen: an image, a screenshot, a scanned PDF, a paused video or text you simply cannot select. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your computer: no image is ever uploaded.
How it works
• Press Alt+Shift+O or click the icon, then draw a rectangle: the text is copied to your clipboard.
• Right-click an image → "Copy text from image".
• "Read a file": drop an image or a PDF. Text already present in a PDF is extracted directly; scanned pages go through OCR.
• You can edit the text before copying; "Copy as one line" removes line breaks.
100% local and private
• The recognition engine and the languages ship inside the extension: offline OCR that works without a connection.
• No permanent access to websites: Ocrette only sees a page after your action (shortcut, click, menu).
• No account, no ads, no usage analytics.
• Made for sensitive documents: the image never leaves your device, no upload, ever.
Free
• 10 extractions a day, in English and French.
Ocrette Pro: €2.99 a month, €19 a year or €39 lifetime (payment through Polar, our reseller)
• Unlimited extractions.
• 4 more languages: German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
• Several areas joined into one text.
• Automatic formatting: joined lines, rejoined split words.
• Local history of your last 200 texts, with search.
Good to know
• Built for printed and on-screen text: handwriting is poorly recognised.
• The browser's internal pages and the extension store cannot be captured.
