About NoteMarker
NoteMarker — Highlight, annotate, and save the web. Locally.
Everything you mark is stored as plain files on your own computer — no account, no cloud, no upload.
FEATURES
• Highlight & annotate — Select text on any webpage to highlight it in multiple colors and attach notes.
• Save pages — Clip the whole page or just a selected region. Images are saved together with the text, so pages stay readable as rich mixed content.
• Manage your reading — Reading list with unread/archive states, annotation manager with search and filters, and one-click export to JSON or Markdown.
YOUR DATA, YOUR MACHINE
• Files, not a silo — Every highlight, note, and clipped page is written to your local disk as ordinary files. Open, back up, or process them with any tool.
• 100% local — Nothing ever leaves your device. No sign-up, no login, no external server.
• Full control — Migrate, back up, or delete your data at any time. It's yours.
• Database is only a cache — The local index exists purely to speed up search. Delete and rebuild it at any time; your source files always remain complete.
NoteMarker pairs with a small open-source local server (github.com/mechine/NoteMarker). The extension includes a built-in quick-start guide — set up once, and your knowledge base stays on your machine.
