About MYLD — My Learning Date
MYLD is a Chrome extension for Wilfrid Laurier students. It reads your deadlines from MyLearningSpace and shows them in a side panel beside whatever you're working on, so you don't have to click through every course to find out what's due.
You can also connect Pearson and Macmillan Achieve. MYLD then adds the homework from course pages you have open to the same list. When an assignment is posted on MyLearningSpace and on Pearson or Achieve, it shows up once, under the site where you actually do the work, and it's marked done as soon as that site shows you've finished it. Pearson and Achieve stay off until you connect them in Settings and allow access in Chrome.
When you open the panel, MYLD goes through each of your courses on MyLearningSpace and gathers assignments, quizzes, discussions and other dated items. It sorts them into Overdue, Today, This week, Next week, Later and Completed, and puts the next thing due at the top. Quizzes without a posted due date go under No date listed, so they don't get lost. Each class gets its own pill, even when MyLearningSpace has more than one course shell for it. Clicking an item opens it where it was posted.
Completion
MYLD marks work done when MyLearningSpace, Pearson or Achieve shows you've submitted it, and says which one confirmed it. You can also tick things off yourself. Those are kept separate, and ticking something off never submits anything. A weekly progress bar shows how much of this week's work is done.
Reminders
Assignments, labs, quizzes, discussions and other items each get their own reminder time, set on a slider from seven days before the due date down to the morning it's due. You can turn off a whole kind of item, or reminders for a whole course, and you can get a notice when a due date moves. Reminders stop once the work shows as submitted or you tick it off, and before sending one about an assignment or quiz, MYLD checks MyLearningSpace again in case you've just handed it in. Reminders are off until you turn them on.
Privacy
MYLD reads MyLearningSpace, and Pearson or Achieve if you connect them, with the session you're already signed in with, so it never sees your password. Everything it reads stays on your computer. MYLD has no server, no analytics and no ads, and it doesn't send your data anywhere. It only reads. It never submits, starts or changes any coursework. The full privacy policy is at https://github.com/ahnafh26/MYLD_mylearningdate/blob/main/PRIVACY.md
MYLD is free and in beta, so treat your courses as the final word on deadlines. It's an independent student project and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Wilfrid Laurier University, D2L, Pearson or Macmillan Learning.
