The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About My Translate
My Translate is a focused webpage text translator. Click the resizable floating edge button to translate or restore a page with Chrome's built-in on-device language models—no API key required.
- Show translations below the original or replace the original text
- Detect languages and translate on-device by default; Chrome downloads language models on first use
- Translate reading content, navigation, menus, buttons, and footer links while preserving appropriate page positions
- Exclude non-content Reddit elements such as authors, timestamps, navigation, and action buttons
- Optionally use your own OpenAI or OpenAI-compatible API for contextual translation and custom models
- Quickly switch available translation engines, target languages, and display modes from the dark toolbar popup
- Adapt translation colors to each page section automatically, or customize emphasis, colors, and borders
- Show a configurable spinner at the side button and text positions while translating or downloading a language model
- Remember exact hostnames that should always be translated
- Translate dynamically loaded content
- Reduce repeat requests with a local cache
The default on-device mode does not send page text to an external translation service. Page text is sent to a configured endpoint only when the user selects an AI provider. The API key stays in local browser storage, but it is not encrypted.
