My Pet Gatekeeper

You said five minutes. That was two hours ago. My Pet Gatekeeper is a free Chrome extension that sends your pet to stop you when you've spent too much time on distracting websites or forgot to take a short break. Set a time limit. Keep browsing. When your time is up, your pet takes over the screen , countdown timer, no scrolling past it. Wait out the break, your pet walks away, your timer resets. HOW IT WORKS 1. Set your time limit for any site (default: 30 minutes) 2. Browse normally — Your pet silently counts your browsing time 3. When your limit hits, your pet appears full-screen with a countdown 4. Break ends, your pet move away, timer resets — you get another round FEATURES • Upload your own pet's video — your actual cat, dog, hamster, whatever • Customize which sites are tracked (Twitter/X, YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, and any site you add) • Adjust time limit and break length • "Shoo!" button lets you dismiss early when you genuinely need to • Toggle the whole extension on/off instantly PRIVACY Everything stays on your device. No account required. No analytics. No data sent anywhere. The extension only requests the permissions it actually needs — storage (settings) and tabs (to message the active tab). Nothing else. WHO IT'S FOR → Pet lovers who want an excuse to see their pet during the workday → Doomscrollers who need something harder to ignore than a notification → Anyone who sits down "for five minutes" and looks up an hour later → Students who want soft limits without nuking their social apps entirely My Pet Gatekeeper just sends your pet to remind you that you've been at it a while — and honestly, that's usually enough.
