About Multi-Keyword Highlighter
Find many words on a page at once. Add your keywords, pick a colour for each, and turn highlighting on. Every match is marked, and you can see how many times each keyword appears.
WHAT IT DOES
• Highlights many keywords at the same time, in six colors (colours) that read well on light and dark pages
• Paste a whole list: separate keywords with commas or new lines
• Shows how many times each keyword appears, with Next and Previous buttons that scroll to each match
• Whole-word and match-case options
• Keeps up with pages that load more content as you scroll or that update themselves
• Your list is saved, so it's there in every tab and after a restart
• Keyboard shortcut to turn highlighting on and off (Alt+Shift+H by default)
• Optional: turn highlighting on automatically on one site you choose. Chrome asks you to allow access to that one site first.
IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE PAGE
The browser draws the highlighting on top of the text (CSS Custom Highlight API). No markup is added to the page, so layouts and page scripts keep working, and copying text gives you exactly what the page contains.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Nothing leaves your browser. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no network requests. Your keyword list is stored locally in your browser. The extension reads a page only when you click its button or press its shortcut on that tab, or on the one auto-apply site you allowed.
FREE VERSION
Up to 10 keywords and 1 list. Some options inside the extension are marked "Pro". Pro is not on sale.
LIMITATIONS
• Highlighting is turned on per page. After you open a new page, click the button or press the shortcut again (except on your auto-apply site).
• Doesn't highlight inside iframes, PDFs, images, canvas-based editors, editable text areas, or browser pages (such as chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store)
• Counts include matches in text the page has hidden; Next and Previous skip those
• Needs Chrome 105 or newer
NOT FOR SAFETY-CRITICAL CHECKS
It can miss text in the cases above. Don't rely on it to screen for allergens or ingredients, or for medical, legal, compliance or safety review.
