The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Mockingbird — Meet Recorder & Transcriber
Mockingbird records your Google Meet meetings and keeps everything on your own computer — no account, no servers, no subscription.
RECORD
Click "● Record" in the floating bar during any Meet call, or turn on auto-record to capture every meeting automatically. Audio is always recorded; you can toggle video capture of the main stage live, mid-meeting. A pulsing indicator and a red REC badge on the toolbar icon show whenever recording is active.
ORGANIZE
Every recording lands in a local dashboard where you can play it back, rename it, download it, or delete it.
TRANSCRIBE
Add your own OpenAI API key in Settings and transcribe any meeting with one click (Whisper, ~$0.006 per audio minute, billed to your own OpenAI account). Transcripts are stored locally so you never pay to re-transcribe, and can be downloaded as text.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Recordings, transcripts, settings, and your API key never leave your browser, with one exception: audio is sent to OpenAI's transcription API when — and only when — you click Transcribe. No analytics, no tracking, no Mockingbird servers. Free and open source (GPL-3.0): https://github.com/nfteague/mockingbird
Reminder: depending on your jurisdiction and workplace policy, you may need participants' consent before recording a meeting.
