About MM Color Picker

Pick, edit, analyze and save colors — entirely on your own computer. MM Color Picker is a complete color toolkit for Chrome: an eyedropper with a magnifier, a full color editor, a CSS gradient generator, palette management and a webpage color analyzer. Everything runs locally in your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no servers. The extension makes no network requests at all and keeps working with your internet connection switched off. Free, with every feature included. ─────────────────────────────── PICK COLORS FROM THE SCREEN ─────────────────────────────── • Magnifier — see the individual pixels around your pointer, with the exact sample area marked, so you always know what you are about to pick. • Five sample sizes — pick a single pixel (1×1), or average a 3×3, 5×5, 11×11 or 25×25 square of screen pixels. Averaging smooths out photo noise, anti-aliased text and compression artifacts. • Area averaging — drag a rectangle to get the average color of everything inside it, plus a short list of the most frequent colors in that area. • Element inspection — point at anything on a page and see the computed CSS colors behind it: text color, background, each border side, outline, text decoration, shadows, gradients and SVG fill and stroke, along with the element's tag, id, classes and size. Click any value to copy it or open it in the editor. • Chrome's built-in eyedropper — pick a single pixel anywhere on your screen, including outside the browser window. • Keyboard friendly — arrow keys move the pointer one pixel at a time (hold Shift for ten), Enter picks, 1–5 switch sample sizes, P, A and I switch modes, and Esc stops. You never need a mouse. • Accurate at any zoom or display scale — the extension measures the relationship between page coordinates and screen pixels for every capture instead of assuming they match, so picks stay exact at 125% display scaling, at browser zoom, and on high-resolution screens. ─────────────────────────────── COLOR EDITOR ─────────────────────────────── • Edit in HEX, RGB, HSL and HSV, with opacity. Every format updates as you change any other one. • A saturation and brightness square, plus hue and opacity sliders — all usable by keyboard. • Paste almost any CSS color: color names, hex, rgb(), hsl(), hwb(), and modern formats such as oklch(), which are converted to the nearest sRGB color. • No drifting values. Colors are held at full precision internally, so switching between formats never shifts the color slightly. • WCAG contrast checks against white, black and the best readable text color, with AA, AA Large and AAA results shown as pass or fail — not color alone. • Before and after previews, so you can compare your edit with where you started. • History of the colors you pick, with the source noted, and favorites you can name, rename and reuse. ─────────────────────────────── CSS GRADIENT GENERATOR ─────────────────────────────── • Linear and radial gradients with up to 16 color stops. • Angle control with eight direction presets; shape, size and center position for radial gradients. • Per-stop color, opacity and position. Drag the handles, or move them with the arrow keys. • Live preview that matches the generated code exactly. • Copy the CSS, download it as a .css file, or save gradients to load and edit later. ─────────────────────────────── PALETTES ─────────────────────────────── • Seven built-in palettes: Material Design 2014, Flat UI, Tailwind CSS v3, Solarized, Nord, Gruvbox and an original accessible-neutrals scale with contrast ratios shown on each swatch. • Every swatch shows its hex value, RGB value and contrast ratio on white, and can be copied with one click or opened in the editor. • Build your own palettes: add, edit, reorder and remove colors, and rename or delete palettes. • Import and export palettes as JSON, so you can back them up or move them between computers. Imported files are validated field by field and are never executed. • Copy a whole palette as a list of hex values or as ready-to-use CSS custom properties. ─────────────────────────────── WEBPAGE COLOR ANALYZER ─────────────────────────────── Open any page, choose "Analyze page", and get a sorted list of the colors that page actually uses. • Reads computed CSS from page elements, ::before and ::after pseudo-elements, open shadow roots and same-origin frames. • Covers text, backgrounds, gradients, every border side, outlines, text decoration, shadows, and SVG fill and stroke. • Shows how many times each color is used, its share of the total, and which CSS properties use it. • Filter by what a color is used for, search by value, and sort by usage, hue, lightness or hex value. • Export as CSS custom properties, JSON, a PNG palette image or an SVG palette image — all generated on your computer. Or save the results straight to a palette. ─────────────────────────────── PRIVACY ─────────────────────────────── MM Color Picker is built so that your data never leaves your computer. • No analytics, telemetry, tracking, advertising, accounts or servers. • No network requests of any kind. The extension's security policy blocks them outright. • No remote code, no CDN, no remote fonts. Every file is bundled with the extension. • Your settings, history, favorites, gradients and palettes are stored locally in your browser and are never synced or uploaded. • Screenshots used for picking exist only in memory and are discarded the moment picking ends. • Page analysis reads only colors and element structure. It never reads page text, form values or passwords. Results are temporary and are cleared when you close Chrome. • The clipboard is only written to, never read. • Works fully offline. Permissions, and why each is needed: • activeTab — reach the current tab only after you click the extension, choose a menu item or press a shortcut. • scripting — add the picker or the analyzer to that tab at that moment. • storage — keep your s…
